Brixx Belvedere vs. John John Da Don

THROWBACK CLASSIC! The 2011 Grind Time Georgia battle that is considered one of the greatest one-rounders ever.

This Sunday (Dec. 20) sees Atlanta hosting BullPen’s next big event. With John John Da Don being the league boss, and Brixx Belvedere featuring on the card in what may be an instant classic against B Magic, now seems like as good of a time as ever to revisit what many fans consider to be the greatest one-round battle of the modern era.

As one of the last great Grind Time-era clashes, Brixx vs. John John has a special place in battle history, more specifically as one of the best showdowns from the Atlanta division. In a lot of ways, this footage captures exactly why so many of us keep coming back to watching battles. The two emcees have well-defined styles with sharp lines and even bigger personalities, and the match-up truly encapsulates the "one-performance-vs.-one-performance" nature of a battle.

While Brixx turns in a great hyper-kinetic charismatic verse, John John’s round is a Criterion Collection of short jokes delivered with confidence and aggression. John John precedes his verse by calling Brixx his “favorite Grind Time rapper,” and with these two bringing the best out of each other four years ago, hopefully Brixx's battle on BullPen this weekend will see their synergy continue to thrive.

Every Thursday, BattleRap.com posts a classic battle that you should know about, or at least be reminded of occasionally. See them all here.
