4Kus vs. Sire

Dope battle from New Orleans Battle League's "Top Tier 2."

Who: 4Kus (Marrero, La.) vs. Sire (New Orleans, La.)
Where: New Orleans Battle League's "Top Tier 2" in New Orleans, La.
When: July 30, 2016

It isn’t often that we see two of the South's top tier lyricists battle in their prime and at the height of their abilities. This battle was a fight between gods. 4kus, the self-proclaimed “Arrogant Asshole” and Sire of Kampus Smakk are both titans in Southern Battle Rap. Both have had lengthy careers and have proved their level of skill through years of debatable and contested matches.

The two emcees are also both from the “Westbank” of New Orleans — an area often overlooked when considering the area’s pool of talent. 4kus has purposely battled primarily in the Gulf Coast region but has recently become a familiar face on Rare Breed Entertainment. Sire recently battled on King of the Ring, which was his first introduction to the national scene. He battled Aye Dot and won in a unanimous 3-0 victory.

Admittedly I was disappointed that this battle was only one round, but this was an entire round of PURE FLAMES! What I appreciate about 4kus is that he writes based on motivation, which depends heavily upon his opponent’s skill level.  The same can be said of Sire, who is always mentioned on lists of the Top 5 lyricists in the South. The main difference between their styles is that 4kus is a punchline artist, throwing back-to-back haymakers to prove his point, while Sire mainly uses schemes to orchestrate a massacre.

Many have had difficulty calling a winner of this match, but the replay value is not nearly as debatable.

“Clip like a boomerang for bitch niggas who got Strange’ pride/ I been draggin these lil niggas, way before Harambe died!”- 4kus

“I'm from the West, where, we cant even spell frontin/ Sparks fly from me usin the tool , like I'm tryna weld somethin”- Sire
