Th3 Saga & Shotgun Suge Break Down Their Battle

BattleRap.com caught up with one of the standout performers at URL's "Rookies vs. Vets" event.

Th3 Saga had a chat with BattleRap.com editor-in-chief Chris Mitchell last weekend after an exhilarating back-and-forth with Shotgun Suge at URL's "Rookies vs. Vets."

“It was a great battle. I think it’s gonna definitely appeal to a lot of people who watch it. I personally feel I got it 2-1 ... Live in person he got Round 1, and I feel like I clearly got the last two just off of freestyle and performance and really breaking him down.”

As an outspokenly Christian rapper, who burst into the wider attentions of the global battle rap community with his recent performance against Prep, Saga gave us a glimpse of his approach moving forward. “I don’t want people to think I’m coming to every battle trying to change your life and all this,” he says. “Honestly, at the same time, I wanted to show Shotgun that if you’re gonna proclaim another lifestyle, you gonna talk about me being a hypocrite, you need to be able to walk in your own path for whatever you believe ... If you gonna call me out on wrongdoings or contradictions I have, you gotta be able to walk a straight path like I’m not walking ... If you’re gonna call me out, I’m gonna call you out."

Of Suge's bully reputation, he says: “It was expected. I wasn’t blown away by anything ... I know what to expect with Shotgun. But at the same time, he definitely brought that intensity.”

Suge appeared on 15 Minutes of Fame Radio calling the battle a 2-1 victory his way.

"He lost," Suge put forward. "He said to me 'How you some gangbanging Muslim?' You lost right there. You know why?… What the fuck that got to do with me? He Christian, but what the fuck’s that got to do with this battle? Nothin’."

Suge gave the third round to his opponent, putting the difference down to the personal nature of Th3 Saga's approach. "I tell you where my weakness at. I’m not good with that personal shit," he admits. "If I was personal, know what I’m sayin’, shit woulda been different. But I don’t wanna do that."

Keep an eye on BattleRap.com on April 5 for the release of this battle.
