Brizz Rawsteen & Aye Verb Recap Their "Rookies vs. Vets" Battle

Both emcees claim a 2-1 victory in the debatable battle.

North Carolina rookie Brizz Rawsteen went head-to-head against established veteran Aye Verb at URL’s “Rookies vs. Vets” in New York on March 28.

When BattleRap.com caught up with Rawsteen after the battle, he praised Aye Verb’s third round but said he still beat the St. Louis rapper 2-1, adding that “it was a fight.”

“His performance was good man, it was great. It was the best in the third round,” said Rawsteen.

Regarding the overall event, Rawsteen said the rookies took the win because the vets didn’t live up to expectations. He also said the 750-person crowd was a new arena but that nothing was out of the ordinary for him, except that it was “more exciting.”

Aye Verb: “My Gift Is Lyricism”

In an interview with BattleRapArena, Aye Verb recapped the battle and said he beat Brizz in the first and third rounds.

“A lot of people are just excited for [Brizz] and that’s the part where reality confuses him, ‘cause he did the same thing to me that everybody else do,” said Aye Verb. “He didn’t say nothing to me that don’t nobody else say.”

Aye Verb added that he is a fan of Brizz when it comes to lyricism, but still puts the rookie below him in terms of skill. “My gift is lyricism,” Verb said, declaring that he “in the 90th percentile” of it in battle rap. “But at the same time, his projection in the room is unmatched,” said Aye Verb.

He says that the veterans of the night had to fight harder because the crowd was with the rookies due to the fact that everybody wants to see the underdog win.

“None of them clearly beat us,” said Aye Verb. “None of them.”

Aye Verb said that he warned Brizz Rawsteen about fans switching on him when they see the footage because nobody in their right mind (as Aye Verb described it) would believe that he beat him.

Aye Verb recently tweeted about how many conflicting views there are on the battle's outcome so far.
