eMC Reacts To Joe Budden & Hollow Da Don Match-Up

"I feel like the playing field is not level," Masta Ace says. "Because Joe has so much that Hollow can aim at."

Talking exclusively about Battle Rap in a recently released interview with VladTV, Hip Hop group eMC spoke about the upcoming match-up of Joe Budden and Hollow Da Don and later addressed Canibus’ now-infamous loss against Dizaster.

“I wanna see it,” Wordsworth said. “I don’t wanna sleep though on what Joe gonna do. I respect that, his lyricism, what he’s done. I haven’t seen him perform in that arena, though. So I don’t know. Where I’m at is I’m on edge. I seen Hollow Da Don do what he does so I’m more accustomed  to what he has.”

“I have an issue,” Masta Ace added. “I feel like the playing field is not level. Because Joe has so much that Hollow can aim at. He’s so much more known. He’s on reality TV. He’s been on Def Jam. We know his girlfriends. There’s so much ammunition that Hollow has. There’s not much that we know about Hollow other than what cats have already said in battles that Joe’s gonna regurgitate. I think dudes should need to be on the same kind of level of fame to be battling. I don’t think it was a good choice on his part. But I’m curious to see. He’s a good emcee, so he’s gonna come with lines.”

Addressing the chance that they themselves would consider battling, the three emcees largely dispelled the possibility.

“I hung my battle cleats up,” Masta Ace said. “There’s too much ammunition. The same reason that I said that Joe shouldn’t battle him is the same reason I wouldn’t do it anymore.”

“I would,” Punchline said. “If somebody disses me on a record, of course I’m gonna respond. That, to me, is still battling.”

“You know I could rhyme,” Wordsworth said. “I’m not trying to prove nothing on the stage battling you. I think for all of us for the most part, a lot of our legacy now lies on the music more so than me battling somebody on stage. Anybody out there, you could listen to any rhyme I’ve written or said and write it down and read it and it’s a hot rhyme. I think that part of, ‘Am I nice?’ is already answered.”
