Cadalack Ron Addresses Controversial “Heroin” Battle

Cadalack Ron says syringe held Gatorade, not heroin.

On Friday’s episode of AngryFans Radio, Los Angeles battle rapper Cadalack Ron addressed the controversial footage of him apparently injecting drugs intravenously in a recent battle against Syfer 1.

A bootleg version of the battle – titled “Cadillac Ron shoots heroin mid battle!” – went viral last week, leading to an outpouring of reaction from the battle rap community as well as getting coverage in SPIN,  The Guardian, and New York rapper R.A. the Rugged Man’s official Facebook page.

Cadalack Ron explained that people were mistaken about the contents of the syringe and that it was originally a stunt he was going to use in a battle against Daylyt, which fell through.

“Do you guys wanna know what the funniest thing was? It was Gatorade in the fucking syringe, man. It wasn’t even fucking dope. The reason I did it was because [Syfer] is a fucking troll and he trolled me so I trolled their whole league back and I ended up trolling battle rap as a whole back. And, to me, that’s the best part.”

When Angryfans host CAPS expressed skepticism at the explanation, Ron said: “I’ve been shooting dope so long I don’t have veins in my wrist,” and later continued: “Out here we don’t have powder heroin. If you look at what’s in the needle, black tar heroin is dark brown. Second of all, it takes me a long time to hit. I can’t just like, find a vein … It doesn’t work like that. I’ll be in the bathroom for like 45 minutes looking for a motherfucker.”

Ron admitted on the show that he had recently relapsed despite previous periods of sobriety.

“Everybody is always coming at me with the junkie jokes … and most of the time I’ve been clean. Like years clean. Five years clean, 18 months clean, and these people are still coming at me with junkie jokes. So right now I’m at a point in my life where actually, I’m not sober.”

When asked if he would seek help, Ron said the video may actually lead him to do just that.

“I’m in the process of developing something with a couple people that are really interested in getting me some help. I’ve gotten help in the past and I’ve also attained long-term sobriety in the past. One time I was sober for five years. But I’m excited right now because as a result of this, some really cool things might happen and I might be able to get into some programs for free and beyond that I might be able to travel out of the country and do some really exciting shit.“

The official version of the battle has been released now, but the part with Ron and the syringe has been digitally obscured.
