Caustic Describes Difference Between SMACK/URL & King Of The Dot

Caustic recalls jail time as a youth.

In an exclusive interview with BattleRap.com, Caustic described  what he considers to be the difference between King Of The Dot and SMACK/URL.

“It’s the demographic,” Caustic says. "I know a bunch of random hood-ass dudes in Oakland that don't give a shit about battling at all but they know SMACK. Everybody knows SMACK. King Of The Dot started in Canada. It's got more of a wholesome fan base. [Laughs] It's just two different demographics. People are looking for two different things. I think the hood wants one thing and the rest of Hip Hop's fan base wants something else. Really it's just the same shit. We all want to hear the best bars we can possibly get. It's funny there's so much segregation throughout the community but really we need to support each other as much as we possibly can or this shit will die."

Caustic also recalls serving three years in a jail as a youth and says that one problem with the battle rap culture is that not enough artists actually live up to their reputations.

“If you ain’t about your shit somebody will call you out quick," he says. "I think that's the problem with shit now: Nobody is really about shit but nobody's getting checked on it so it just gets worse.”

Caustic is scheduled to battle in the upcoming “Battle of L.A. 5.” Watch the full interview below.
