Bigg K Says Punchers Will Always Beat Schemers

Exclusive: “I don’t give a fuck how good at scheming you are, if I’m punching just as much as you scheming, I’m gonna win every single time,” says Bigg K.

Bigg K spoke exclusively with BattleRap.com where the Norfolk, Virginia lyricist discusses different battle styles, his own personal battle preparation as well as being a fan favorite in the industry.

Talking generally about various battle styles, Bigg K reveals that a battler with punchlines will always triumph over an emcee that uses schemes.

“You gotta know who you watching,” Bigg K said. “You watch people that like to scheme a lot like Daylyt and Chilla [Jones], you got to pay attention to every word they say cause you might be missing a whole lot of shit. Me personally, I prefer punches over schemes. Shout-out to Iron Sheikh, he told me, ‘look, a fuckin’ schemer can never beat a puncher.’ You can’t ever, because it don’t weigh enough. I don’t give a fuck how good at scheming you are, if I’m punching just as much as you scheming, I’m gonna win every single time. There’s a formula to beat everybody, man. If you battling a muthafucka that punch all the time, talk that real shit to him, cause them punches is never gonna weigh more than that real shit. I can’t tell all my secrets but there’s a different way to beat everybody.”

Talking about battle preparation, Bigg K admits he usually prepares his rounds during the week of the respective battle, however against The Saurus, who he faced at King Of The Dot’s Vendetta 2: Redemption on April 19, he reveals that he had his bars finalized two weeks before.

“This was the first time I’ve had three rounds done so far in advance,” Bigg K recalled. “I usually write all my shit the week of the battle, I don’t know why, I can know about the battle three months in advance, [but] I just prepare better like that. This time I was like let me try something different. I had all three rounds done about two weeks in advance. I didn’t know if I was gonna forget them but it turned out it worked better. I think imma do it like this from here on out. You got some freestyles from me you got some rebuttals.”

Finally, Bigg K say he isn’t used to being a fan favorite due to being an underdog for most of his battling career.

“It feel a little bit weird,” explains Bigg K. “I ain’t used to being a favorite. I’ve always been an underdog. When this battle was announced, I started seeing the tweets like, ‘yo, you’re gonna kill him,’ I was like, ‘damn bro, that’s crazy.’ I knew that, but I just didn’t know everybody else knew that.”

Bigg K is set to battle Danny Myers at King Of The Dot’s “Battle Of LA 5,” an event scheduled to take place June 27-28, 2014 at Club Los Globos in Los Angeles, California.
