Arsonal: “No Battle Rapper Period Has Done More Than I Have”

After running a poll to decide who Arsonal would battle at U Dubb’s "Annihilation" event on July 27, the league announced the winner as Watts rapper Daylyt. The poll included Daylyt, Murda Mook, Loaded Lux, Mistah Fab and Big T.

U Dubb (formerly UW Battle League) is looking to follow up its successful High Stakes event from January, which featured the hugely-hyped Hollow Da Don vs. Loaded Lux classic. Also on the Annihilation card is B-Magic vs. Charron, JC vs. K Shine, O-Red vs. Charlie Clips, O Solo vs. Tech 9 and Shotgun Suge vs. T-Rex.

In a recent interview on AngryFans Radio, Arsonal spoke about his impact on the culture after being asked if he thought he was overshadowed by battlers like Loaded Lux and Murda Mook.

“Nobody in battle rap has done more for the culture than I have. No battle rapper period has done more than I have. Only person that I could say has actually carried the culture better than me or that could even compete is Smack and that’s because he been doing it for 10 years, but Smack’s not a battler.

Me coming from ‘106 & Park’ to being a fucking league owner, to having my own video game app, going to seven different countries, being in every battle league that’s out … No legends, no Luxes, no Mooks have passport stamps like I do. None of them have done the things that I do.”

Arsonal also addressed no longer wanting to battle Ill Will at URL’s Summer Madness 4.

“I was booked for Summer Madness against Ill Will, but after he got his boots smoked by DNA … For fans wondering why I would say this, it’s not the arrogant, cocky Ars, it’s not because he lost bad. Everybody take a loss … I was giving Ill Will a chance for Summer Madness, which is the biggest stage in battle rap. No disrespect to him. I’ll still battle Ill Will, but it would have to be on like Backyard Battles or something. I just can’t give him that shot on a Summer Madness stage.”

He also spoke about trying to book a rematch with Hollow Da Don.

“I’ve been trying to get Hollow a rematch for two and a half years now. And niggas still tell me I’m running from him. He the one that don’t wanna battle … I’m a keep it funky. Hollow turned down a lot of money.”
