Bigg K Says Fans Shouldn't Be Mad At Ghostwriters

Exclusive: “It’s a different fuckin’ class of human beings that watch Battle Rap. These people are low lifes,” Bigg K says.

In an exclusive interview with BattleRap.com, Bigg K spoke on the contemporary topic of ghostwriting in Battle Rap and Hip Hop in general, saying it shouldn’t happen anywhere in the industry. The Norfolk, Virginia battler also discussed ghostwriting offers and Battle Rap fans.

On the subject of ghostwriting, Bigg K says fans shouldn’t place anger on the ghostwriters themselves, instead they should channel their hate towards the individual paying to have verses ghostwritten.

“The thing about ghostwriting for somebody is even though you might be dope as a muthafucka as a battler, if they find out you ghostwrote for somebody else they may not like you no more,” explains Bigg K. “Which is gay because you’re still dope. They shouldn’t be mad at you, they should be mad at the dude that paid you. But that’s just how fans work. If you knew how many of your favorite battlers say shit that didn’t even come from them, you might not like the people you like, bro. Some people’s favorite rappers don’t even write all of their rhymes, bro. So you shouldn’t get crucified in fuckin’ Battle Rap for it when some of the favorite songs you listen to, they ain’t write that shit. I don’t believe ghostwriting should occur in Hip Hop, period. It’s not ghostwriting when you’re a singer, you have the voice or somebody writes you the song, you have the voice for the song. But as far as somebody writing you a verse in Hip Hop — why are you even special enough to be a star if you ain’t even writing your own lyrics?”

When asked about ghostwriting offers, Bigg K says he hasn’t been offered enough to ghostwrite but admits if the money was right, he would do it.

“Not enough, that’s why I don’t do it,” said Bigg K. “I’d do it for the right amount of money though, I wouldn’t tell nobody. So if you’re watching this, talk to me [laughs]. It don’t make it wack for me, it makes it wack for the person buying the verse, not for me though. I ain’t gon’ tell nobody. I would charge more to ghostwrite for somebody than for me to battle to be honest with you. It’d have to be worth it.”

Finally Bigg K spoke on Battle Rap fans jokingly labeling them as a “different class of human beings” and “low lifes.”

“Battle Rap fans are the most low life pieces of shit on this earth. For real,” explains Bigg K. “You think I’m bullshitting. It’s a different fuckin’ class of human beings that watch Battle Rap, bro. These people are low lifes [laughs]. You have no fuckin’ idea, man. A battle event just happened yesterday, all the bootlegs are out already… on a porno site [laughs]. Them muthafuckas is crazy.”
