"The Road to Total Slaughter" Episode 2 Recap

“The Road to Total Slaughter” rolled on again last night with an entertaining episode that featured two battles: Dizaster vs. Math Hoffa and Daylyt vs. Arsonal.

The show felt like it had more room to breathe this week, focusing mainly on the four battlers who were competing and giving viewers some recent battle history.

As the episode starts, the MCs are sitting in the Brooklyn house talking about the tournament. In the last episode we saw Cortez lose in a surprise battle to T-Rex, who then took his spot and is now lined up to face off against Detroit’s Marv Won. Murda Mook – who along with Loaded Lux is acting as a coach – tells them all they have around eight hours to prepare 90 seconds of material for their first opponent.

After a quick montage of the guys prepping (and Arsonal boasting about his YouTube views) we’re taken to “Slaughter Studios” in Brooklyn. There’s a small crowd waiting there to watch the battles as well as the Slaughterhouse crew members (Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Royce Da 5’9” and Crooked I), who will serve as judges for the battles.

Before Dizaster and Math Hoffa square off, we’re treated to some backstory about Math’s last battle, where, he explains: “I blew my cool and I punched Serius Jones in the face in front of a huge crowd and got banned from URL.”

There’s some footage of DJ Kay Slay and Math having a heart-to-heart in the house, and Kay Slay suggests that Math apologize to Serius. “I was disappointed in myself, but you right.” Math says.

Next Dizaster talks about his last battle, a King of the Dot title match against Pat Stay in Toronto at Blackout 4. Dizaster talks about his loss, explaining that battling Pat in front of his home-crowd of Canadians is “like battling the Devil in Hell.” He says the loss made him want to retire but that the tournament has sparked a new fire in him.

After some initial static during the coin toss, Dizaster and Math Hoffa battle. Watch it here.

In the judging segment, Budden accuses Dizaster of recycling half the verse, saying “I’m almost certain that I’ve heard quite a few of those bars.” Dizaster denies it: “I’ve definitely never spit that shit before.”

KOTD cameraman Avocado pointed out on Twitter that Joe Budden and Dizaster have previously argued on social media and that “Joe ain’t never liked Diz as a battler.”

In any case, Dizaster picks up the win with votes from Crooked I and Joell Ortiz. Royce calls it a draw.

Math Hoffa and Dizaster will have another chance to settle their beef in a three-round rematch this weekend at King of the Dot’s Battle of Los Angeles 5.

Next up on the show is Arsonal vs. Daylyt but first there’s a segment on the history of beef between Arsonal and Budden, which dates back to May 2011. Budden called out Arsonal in a song and Arsonal responded with a diss track of his own.

Arsonal wins the coin toss and Daylyt goes first. Check the battle here.

After the battle, Arsonal tells the camera he thought his performance was one of his best ever. Royce, Crooked I and Joell Ortiz call the battle a tie, and Joe Budden says it was close but gives the nod to Daylyt based on one line: “Check my past roll/You’ll see that I’m the shit, asshole/It’s a afro/I’m nice round here[hair].”

Although it’s technically a majority draw, Daylyt advances.

A disappointed Arsonal tells the camera that out of all of Slaughterhouse, Budden was the only one he’d had a problem with, and Budden was the reason he lost the battle.

He’ll have another shot at Daylyt at U Dubb’s Annihilation event on July 27.

The uncensored episode of Total Slaughter will drop on WatchLOUD.com on Monday, June 30.

The Total Slaughter event goes down on July 12. If you can’t make it to New York, visit totalslaughter.tv for information on the live pay-per-view.
