The Road to Total Slaughter: Episode 3 Recap

Three of the four battlers choked, but they made up for it with a cypher in the house afterwards.

This week’s episode of Fuse TV’s Battle Rap reality show “The Road to Total Slaughter” featured two matchups: Aye Verb vs. Big T and T-Rex vs. Marv Won. The episode had some great moments in it, although most of them happened outside the actual battles, where three of the four MCs competing choked.

This episode opened with a new custom theme song from Slaughterhouse, produced by AraabMuzik.

The first scene shows Aye Verb berating Big T in his bedroom, asking him “How many people have you battled in this house?” Verb goes in on T for not having been matched up against “the best battlers in the world” in his career. For the record, Verb has battled six of the competitors and Big T has battled one.

Big T keeps his cool, telling Verb that he “embraces death” in their battle later that day.

Next we get some background on T, who talks about being shot four times. “My rhymes usually hit harder because I’ve actually been through this shit,” he says.

As the MCs prepare for their battle, we see them eating and T-Rex laughing that Big T is the biggest one in the house but is the only one who refuses to eat. Big T says doesn’t want to be “sluggish.”

Verb sputters and stumbles through most of his 90-second round and T proves that not eating before made him hungry enough for a win, despite a stumble himself.

Slaughterhouse renders their verdict: all four members of the panel give it to Big T with a score of “9-8,” meaning he advances to face the winner of T-Rex and Marv Won.

For the Rex/Marv intro, we learn from Murda Mook that Marv, a veteran who hails from Detroit, battled Eminem on the set of “8 Mile.” Marv says that he was grateful for the opportunity and that it was big for his career.

Rex loses the coin toss and Marv picks him to go first.

Rex hits Marv with a flawless performance and a ton of quotable punches. Marv starts strong but then comes to a stop after someone distracts him from the edge of the ring. Dizaster suggests that Marv should be allowed to start over because of it but the battle ends on the choke.

Marv blames his memory rather than the distraction for his loss and all four members of Slaughterhouse score the battle 10-8 for Rex.

On the trip back to the house, some of the battlers look embarrassed and disappointed with their performances from the first day. By our count, five of the nine MCs stumbled or choked: Cortez, Aye Verb, Math Hoffa, Marv Won and Big T.

Big T says he was thrown off by being around his opponents as he was rehearsing and we hear from a few others about their reasons but Math Hoffa sums it up with: “We fucked up” and “We didn’t look like us.”

At home, Mook tries to bring their spirits up by getting them all together to redo their verses so everyone can actually hear the lines. Big T and Verb face off, Arsonal (who lost to Daylyt in the first round) drops some lines for Big T and Marv gets at Ars.

Arsonal makes Big T an offer to do push-ups. Arsonal makes Big T an offer to do push-ups.

The rappers finally get their redemption in this scene, spitting some of the best lines we’ve heard on the show so far in a casual atmosphere where they’re all laughing and joking.

We cut to Daylyt who says: “This is funny to me. I’ve got popcorn in the microwave and I’m watching these losers battle for scraps. What are y’all fighting for? Twelfth place?”

Dizaster jumps into the cypher, spitting rhymes on the fly and poking fun at Verb for choking, Marv for looking like Rick Ross, and Cortez for having to sleep on the couch.

Next week will be the show’s finale, featuring the semi-final battles between Dizaster/Daylyt and Big T/T-Rex.
