Aspect One, Tycoon Tax, KG The Poet & Danny Myers Speak On Ghostwriting

Exclusive: Hear what the insiders have to say about ghostwriting.

In a previous BattleRap.com exclusives, Chilla Jones, Bigg K, Caustic, Aye Verb, B-MagicLush OnePhara Funeral, Jaz The Rapper and E Hart gave their take on the subject of ghostwriting. Now, Aspect One, Tycoon Tax, KG The Poet and Danny Myers speak on their behalf.

"Pick up your own pen, educate yourself. Learn more words so you can beat the next man. If you out here writing for somebody else then you dilutin' their craft and their passion," said Aspect One.

Ghostwriting changes the game for Aspect One. He doesn't take part in the act, he always writes his own work but finding out about an opponent who's unoriginal can be discouraging as he describes.

"I'm definitely all out for putting it on the line for these fools so if you out here and you got somebody else writing for you, I'm not going to work as hard for you," he said.

"A lot of cats ain't going to get the support. I don't fuck with ghostwriting, I think, honestly, as a rapper if you suck and you want to get a ghostwriter and you like Puffy and one of them type dudes, go for it," Aspect One continues, "But honestly, the rap shit is to be original, be your fucking self."

Tycoon Tax hasn't been in the Battle Rap game long enough to know who does what, as he said.

"I don't know these types of dudes personally just a few of them that I get along with like DNA, Charlie Clips, Conceited, Hollow The Thorn," he explained.

"I'm not really out behind the scenes like that to be really judgin' niggas like that," Tycoon Tax continues, "For me it's a good thing 'cause I just stay away from it, focus on what I'm doing, I don't got to focus on who's ghostwriting for who, I don't care."

Like Aspect One, KG The Poet doesn't support the act. He goes on by saying,

"I don't like the people who do it, who do the ghost writing but you know, the people who pay for it man you got to talk to God about that man," he continues, "Eventually, you always get caught up anyway and if you get caught up on that, you done for."

Danny Myers says "It's kinda lame, it's lame, you know what I'm saying."

He's sure ghostwriting not only occurs in Battle Rap, but in all forms of writing, as he explained. "There's a lot of bitin' and re-flippin' niggas words around and trying to make it yours going around.

"I don't get ghost written for if that's what people want to know. I write my shit, I've been doing this for over twenty years," Danny Myers adds.
