VladTV spoke with female emcee Bonnie Godiva regarding the battles on the card at this Saturday’s (July 12) Total Slaughter event taking place at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York.
Addressing the headlining battle set to take place between Joe Budden and Hollow Da Don, Bonnie Godiva says it’s not going to be easy for Hollow but feels comfortable that he will walk away the victor.
“I think that is going to be so crazy,” says Bonnie Godiva. “And the start of something so much bigger than Battle Rap, like a merge of mainstream and Battle Rap. I think that Joe Budden is definitely nice, he’s so underrated. I’m so excited to see what he’s gonna do but this Battle Rap game is not something you can just jump into and kill. I think he’s gonna get his feet wet but I think that Hollow [Da Don] is gonna win. Hollow’s definitely been in my top five for a minute. Since I’ve seen him and Big T I’ve yet to see a battle where someone was as complete as he was in that battle. I’m gonna say Hollow is definitely gonna edge that but Joe Budden is not gonna get bodied, he’s nice.”
On the subject of the other headlining battle, the rematch between Loaded Lux and Murda Mook, Bonnie Godiva reveals her apathy for the matchup saying she hasn’t seen any recent material from Murda Mook that makes her excited to watch him battle.
“I’m not interested in that battle,” explains Bonnie Godiva. “I watched the first one and it was like, it was cool—I haven’t seen anything from [Murda] Mook that had me excited or feeling it in a minute. Maybe he’ll go hard ‘cause it’s [Loaded] Lux but when I heard it I was like, ‘Eh.’ I’d rather see Lux and [Charlie] Clips, that I think would be crazy. I’m not putting anything against Mook he just gotta show me something that excites me versus Lux. He’s gonna have to do way better than he’s been doing lately.”
Although performing at London’s Wembley stadium when Total Slaughter takes place, Bonnie Godiva spoke on a possible return to Battle Rap for Eminem.
“I hope he does ‘cause Eminem is a beast,” explains Bonnie Godiva. “I would hope that he does get back into it a little bit. He’s not really doing too much music wise now so I think it’d be a good downtime thing to do ‘cause he’s definitely a beast. He’s definitely nice. I think he would jump into ‘Top Fives’ quickly. He’s barely Battle Rapped in a long time and he’s still already there when people think of battling, they think of 8 Mile.”
