Born Says He Wants Both Joe Budden & Hollow Da Don “To Prove Something” In Their Battle At “Total Slaughter”

Born also addresses the rematch between Loaded Lux and Murda Mook saying he “never thought they needed to rematch.”

Yesterday (July 8) we heard Bonnie Godiva’s views on the battle between Joe Budden and Hollow Da Don. Today we hear from battle emcee Born in a newly-published interview with VladTV.

“When they first set it up I was like, ‘Yo, listen. Joe Budden is gonna wig on this man,’ because I’m a big Joe Budden fan,” explains Born. “This ain’t gonna be no Canibus situation. The nigga is dead nice. He got punchlines, I’ve literally seen him battle on the radio, who was it? Charles Hamilton, they wrote the bars right there on the radio and he destroyed this nigga.

“On one hand, Joe Budden is one of my favorite rappers,” Born continues. “I brought his first album when it came out [and] I got a lot of his mixtapes, I fuck with this nigga, he’s nice. But with that being said, Hollow [Da Don] is my nigga too. Hollow’s really my nigga, I’ve never met Joe Budden, Hollow’s really my nigga, like, I’ve chilled with this nigga, I’ve done cyphers with this nigga. Plus, he represents us, as battle rappers. If Joe Budden comes in there and he kills Hollow or something, it’s gonna prove some type of point that, ‘Oh, we can’t fuck with mainstream rappers.’ So I do want Hollow to win ‘cause I want these niggas to know like, ‘Nigga, this shit ain’t a game.’ [But] with that being said it’s hard ‘cause Joe Budden is my favorite [rapper] so another part of me does want him to win so I’m kind of stuck with that battle. It’s so hard, man, ‘cause I fuck with both of them heavy… I just hope it’s a classic. I want them both to prove something.”

Similar to Bonnie Godiva, Born also addressed the rematch between Loaded Lux and Murda Mook. In the interview, Born says people are sleeping on Mook and forgetting that he 5-0’d Iron Solomon in their battle at Summer Madness 2.

“Do I think they need to rematch? No,” says Born. “I never thought they needed to rematch or what not. But, I will say this… A lot of people is sleeping on [Murda] Mook, for some strange reason, I don’t know. They be forgetting that Mook 5-0’d a nigga that most niggas would struggle to beat. He 5-0’d this nigga, easily. It may not have been a performance that niggas wanted from Mook but he 5-0’d a legend. I took that as a warm up battle for him to come back. I think Mook is gonna come with that shit. He’s gonna wig. Just like [Loaded] Lux had to do his warm up with Calicoe—I liked him versus Hollow better than him versus Calicoe, even though more people liked the Calicoe battle, against Hollow he seemed more comfortable.

“I’m thinking Mook has took that battle as a warm up, now he knows what the crowd wanna hear, he know what they wanna fuck with and he’s gonna come with some different shit,” he continues. “I think it’s gonna be dope. I would rather them both of battled somebody different. I would have rather seen Mook versus [Tsu] Surf, and Lux versus somebody else. But I don’t mind the battle, it’s gonna be dope but I think people are sleeping on Mook.”

“Total Slaughter” is set to take place this Saturday (July 12) at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York.
