Speaking with Battle Rap at the venue for tomorrow’s Total Slaughter event, several of the contestants and one of the judges offered exclusive predictions of the headline battles.
Hollow Da Don
“2-1 Lux. Alright, you know how I feel. I am going 2-1 Lux. I think it’s going to be a classic battle. If it’s a 2-1 Lux it’s a close 2-1. Mook is best at using his angles. I drive myself off of that...but he’s the best at it. Well, he was the best at it. We ain’t seen him in a while. That’s one thing I commend Mook on, he know how to use the angles.”
“Daylyt and T-Rex. Dope. They had the two best performances on the show clearly. Man, you want me to call that? T-Rex 2-1. He’s too consistent. Close battle.”
“I am gonna be biased ‘cause Big T’s my nigga. Big T 2-1 [against Arsonal]. I’m not gonna say 3-0. That’s dickhead bias. I got Big T. They’ve been hating on my boy lately and I that’s what I think the fella Mook got too. That’s why I say he’s dangerous. It’s hard to say Lux ‘cause they been hating on him so much. That’s how I felt with the Lux battle...I think with the [Iron] Soloman battle he got the feel back even though he still took a little time off between that. He’s gonna do better than the Soloman battle.”
Arsonal
“I’m hoping Joey take a 3-0 sweep. I’m from Jersey. I’m a real Jersey nigga. Despite his vote against me on Road To Total Slaughter, I’m from Jersey and I’ma always go with the home team. It ain’t nothing but love right there so I really want him to take that 3-0 honestly...I think Joey gon’ shock everybody. I really do. A lot of people doubting him ‘cause he ain’t never did it. I can be wrong. But I think he gon’ shock everybody.”
“Mook versus Lux, I think that’s gonna go either way. Lux is my mentor. That’s my big brother. He threw me in the ring, he didn’t start me battle rapping but my first taped battle was [through him]...Mook is just like a juggernaut. He’s a legend. I don’t know, I think that’s gonna go either way. That might be a preference battle.”
“[T-Rex] versus Daylyt. That’s another one. Rex out the door is just like a pitbull. And then Lyt is just fucking gone. The way he put it together is just wow. I think it’s gonna get down to preference. I think the only clear battle is gonna be me versus Big T. I’m gonna smack the shit out of him. That’s gonna be a problem. But the other three I honestly think they could go either way. The only one I can really give my opinion on is the Joe [and] Hollow. I want Joe to wash Hollow actually. Other than that Rex is my man. Day is my man. Lux is like a big brother. Mook is respected. I think the culture wins.”
Kid Capri
“Joe Budden ain’t no slouch. He ain’t nobody that you could just say he won’t be able to do his thing. But the shock value is, it’s an artist that’s a made artist that’s coming to Battle Rap and taking a chance.”
Big T
“Joe seems pretty confident. But I gotta call it for what I see. I see Hollow beating him. I’ve seen what Hollow could do.”
“I’m going with Mook. Mook is the person. If this was Lux's first time coming back after six years I probably would go with Lux. But Mook had time to sit down. He haven't battled in a couple years. He had time to sit down and scientifically break down Loaded Lux. He's the first person in Battle Rap to break people down. He brought personals to this game. Usually it's just all general bars."
"[T-Rex] versus Daylyt? Rex is hot right now. Daylyt hot too. But Rex presence [comes] off stronger in these types of crowds. I'm probably gonna go with Rex if I have to go with somebody."
