ARP Discusses Attempt To Shut Down RBE’s Lift His Soul Event

ARP says Club Drom received phone calls saying it would be in the club’s best interest to reconsider the July 5 event.

ARP, the CEO of Rare Breed Entertainment, recently posted a recap and behind the scenes YouTube vlog regarding the league’s recent “Lift His Soul” event at Club Drom in Manhattan on July 5.

In the video (posted July 20), ARP speaks about attempts to shut down his event by an anonymous person who called Club Drom and said they may want to reconsider hosting the event.

“Shout out to whoever it was that called Club Drom and said, ‘Yo, y’all might wanna reconsider doing this upcoming Saturday’s event,’ which was July 5 because of whatever happened in LA,” explains ARP.

“Shout out to you, or y’all. Whoever it is, the hate is real. I wish we knew who y’all was so we could return the favor. I don’t know what y’all expected to happen. I guess y’all took an opportunity to use some drama that was going on and try to fuck with Rare Breed Entertainment or try to get our show cancelled or shut down.”

“Let me tell you something, we had a contract with Club Drom months in advance for the Lift His Soul event on July 5,” he continues. “And not only that, if y’all thought that y’all were gonna fuck up any particular artists or anything like that — ask any emcee that touches our stage, we file paperwork for every battler that’s gonna touch the stage with the venue. One of the reasons why we do that is because we did a card, this is twice now out of Club Drom, and everybody knows back in 2013, even a lot of Manhattan and here in 2014, they don’t really fuck with battle rap that much anymore. So it’s like, I file every single artist to make sure that if I put somebody on the card, they’re not gonna have a problem with them. So what did you think they was gonna do? Shut us down the week of the event? And reneg out of all of their contracts and paperwork they had with all the artists and the whole card and the date that RBE had? Good try. When y’all do shit like that, y’all letting us know we really are here. So shout out to y’all fuck niggas for that.”

Also in the video, ARP discusses each of the night’s battles including Big Kannon versus Bigg K.
