After the Shady Films-sponsored Total Slaughter event ushered several mainstream artists into the battle rap industry earlier this month, Snoop Dogg took to Instagram to announce his own plans to provide a platform for the culture.
“It’s your boy big Snoop D-O double G,” he says. “Blowing on some bomb-ass weed overseas. Me and my nigga Murda Mook fitting to come at you with something real big for the Hip Hop battle scene. Be on the lookout.”

In his second post about the plans, Snoop connects the announcement to the BET Hip Hop Awards, which he is hosting for a consecutive year. Snoop will host the BET Hip Hop Awards in Atlanta this September 28 with the ceremony scheduled to air on October 15.
“Yo Mook, I don’t think they heard us," he says. "We about to do something real big for the Hip Hop battle scene. I’m hosting the BET Hip Hop Awards again this year, but I got something real special planned this time. Be on the lookout.”
