John John Da Don Says Hollow Da Don "Is Just Chasing Ghosts"

“As far as me and Hollow, we spoke on the phone a few days after the situation. Hollow know he gotta see me in that ring sooner or later. He know."

Calling in to the 15 Minutes of Fame Radio show, John John Da Don shared that he still wants to battle Hollow Da Don despite their continued public rift. In December 2013, tensions between the two rappers bubbled up when Hollow reportedly took a swing at John John at the UW face-off event (a press conference ahead of Hollow battle with Loaded Lux). Since that altercation, Hollow’s name has continued to grow given his battle against Joe Budden (and all the promotional lead-up) at Total Slaughter.

Asked if a battle against Hollow is viable given their history of physicality, John John said that “the best way to resolve it is in the battle.”

“Well, I feel like, people say battle rap is saving Hip Hop because instead of niggas doing something to each other physically, they could get in the ring and do it verbally to squash that, so it don’t have to be that,” he said. “Before that Math and Dizaster situation I felt like, if two battle rappers really have beef, the best way to resolve it is in the battle. But I feel like being a professional and getting money ... you should be able to control yourself. It shouldn’t happen. Then, another thing, what’s your definition of beef? Math and Dizaster wasn’t beefing. They said a few words to each other, but nobody did nothing.

“I feel like that’s the best way to resolve it,” he added. “As far as me and Hollow, we spoke on the phone a few days after the situation. Hollow know he gotta see me in that ring sooner or later. He know.  I got some shit. We still got some shit to talk about.”

Addressing the possibility that Hollow feels he’s outgrown John John as a possible opponent, the Yonkers emcee agreed.

“I feel like he feel like that,” he said. “Yeah, his name is bigger than mine, of course, but as far as too big to battle me?”

During the interview, John John added that he thinks Hollow is simply trying to climb the ladder of exposure in battle rap.

“Hollow is just chasing ghosts,” he said. “He’s just trying to get as big as he can. He went from Surf, to Lux, to Joe Budden. I don’t know. He’s probably trying to get Obama next. I feel like he just gonna keep trying to go up. He gonna try and avoid battling current battle rappers because these niggas that ain’t been doing it, it’s easier. It’s easy. It wasn’t that easy with him and Joe surprisingly. But that was because of that big stage. If this was the URL crowd, Hollow would’ve ripped Joe’s head off.”
