Cadalack Ron Shows Off Fresh Bullet Wound

The Hollywood-based emcee and self-proclaimed "Black Tar Rap Star" continues to publicly document his distressing year.

Cadalack Ron posted an alarming photo on Instagram early Wednesday (Aug. 13), displaying his upper arm dressed with what appears to be a freshly gauzed bullet wound, and captioned with: “got shot in the Holy Hood nbd”. The photo cements the status of what has already been a distressing year for Caddy.

Ron recently reached a level of viral notoriety after supposedly stopping mid-battle for a heroin break at the end of May. BattleRap.com caught up with him after the incident and he explained that he faked it after he “found a Styrofoam cup of Gatorade in the venue” and had a syringe ready for use later that evening.

His struggles with narcotics have been frequent and well documented. “I have been to rehab twenty times, and I’ve spent time homeless and in jail,” he explained in the previously unreleased interview from May. “In 2009, when I started in Grind Time, I was clean, but drugs were the only thing people would battle me about. When I relapsed in 2011, people noticed. They saw what I was like really on drugs.”

He justified the heroin incident as an eye-opener for the public, and went on to clarify: “A lot of the battle community was saying it was a disgrace to battle rap, but I am indirectly shedding light on the fact I am an addict. I’m either in recovery or I’m not. I’m not sober right now.”

This latest brush with death is apparently not his closest this year. “In February, I technically died for thirty minutes from a fatal heroin OD,” he said. “I don’t know what to do. Sometimes I feel like if it wasn’t for my kids I’d probably be dead. I’m pretty much schizophrenic now.”

He also posted a photo on Instagram last week (since deleted) of himself shirtless, sprawled on the ground with his eyes closed and mouth open. The caption read: "Dead for 15 minutes ... shouts out to the guy who took the picture instead of calling 911".

On Aug. 6, he posted a photo of himself with a caption detailing his thoughts at the time:

The days grow short, I'm in the autumn of my year... stories about addicts are boring. They can only end two ways. Not being dramatic, just want you to know I appreciate all of you. No matter what happens I did what I came to do. When I was 16 years old if you had told me I would be in a crew with @luckydoot and rap over an @therealeligh beat I would have laughed at you. If you told me I'd have videos with 100,000 plus views on YouTube ( @lushoneca ) I wouldn't have believed it. The funny thing is all I ever wanted was for @aceyalone (?) To know who I was and respect me lol... I am not Cadalack Ron. He became me. My name is Robert Edward Hughes Paulson. I don't know if I made my father proud, but I rapped my fucking ass off. Real before rap. Respect before success. Thank you. Robert

With King of the Dot battlers FeelGood (who died in a road accident while traveling in Vietnam in February) and Nat Select (who died from undisclosed causes in July) as well as Wizard of Skill (a much-loved U.K. spoken word artist and long-term supporter of Don’t Flop who suffered a blood clot on the lung) passing on this year, battle rap has already lost too many, too young.

The staff at BattleRap.com wish Caddy a full and speedy recovery.
