VladTV recently caught up with Boston-based lyricist Chilla Jones, who revealed his picks for the Bottom 5 battle rappers in the industry.
In the interview, Chilla says Rosenburg Raw, Ah Di Boom, QP (Innuendo), Tech 9 and Arcane all feature in his Bottom 5 list.
“Rosenburg Raw, man. He’s the first thing that comes to mind,” explains Chilla Jones. “He doesn’t say much. I like bars [and] he just doesn’t say much. I’ve never watched a Rosenburg Raw battle more than once for him. I’m gonna say Ah Di Boom, man [laughs]. He does this thing sometimes where he spells certain things out in his rounds and spells the shit wrong, man. I can’t do it [laughs], I can’t let that slide, man… He battled Aye Verb and spelled marshmallow wrong. He totally forgot the H in marshmallow. But, like I said, he has crazy potential. [His] performance is crazy. Once he sharpens his bars he’ll be a serious problem. I gotta say QP Innuendo, one of the best pens on earth but I feel like he doesn’t take any battle serious. Between chokes or stumbles, he just don’t take shit serious, man. Tech 9 [laughs], I don’t have any personal problems with Tech 9, I’ve never spoken to Tech 9 in my life. All I know is I saw him versus Cortez live last year [and] that shit was awful. Part of me wants to say Arcane. Bar-for-bar I like Arcane, man, it’s just I don’t know if those are his bars [laughs].”

I like Tech too. His character is great for battlerap. Hes a legend. But ima still have my opinion and he still gotta respect it. *shrugs*

After one fan suggested settling the dispute with a battle, Chilla simply said he’s “not interested at all.”

Elsewhere in the VladTV interview, Chilla Jones revealed his Top 5 picks from SMACK/URL, King of the Dot and Queen of the Ring.
“Top 5? We’ll say Hollow [Da Don], we’ll say [Loaded] Lux, [B] Magic, Hitman [Holla], [Charlie] Clips.”
“KOTD Top 5? Pat Stay, Dizaster, 100 Bulletz, Kid Twist I like, Hollohan.”
Chilla Jones later tweeted that he would substitute Hollohan for Charron as he was put “on the spot.”
