In a new interview with 15 Minutes Of Fame Radio, battle rapper Goodz discusses giving up-and-coming emcees a shot, and addresses his feud with Serius Jones.
When asked about giving Ah Di Boom a shot in the ring, Goodz says the former asked respectfully so is willing to battle him.
“I feel like if we don’t give shots, how is the battle culture gonna grow? We’re not gonna be them niggas forever, there’s gonna be a new generation coming in and they gotta be them niggas,” he explains. “When I give a shot, I wouldn’t do three rounds with them, that’s just my rule, but I will give them a shot at doing a one-round joint with them or something like that, like an ample time where they could get off at. I didn’t have to do it, I just came off the Aye Verb battle. A terrific battle with Aye Verb, I didn’t have to do it but I choose to do it. I fuck with Ah Di Boom the same way. I fuck with Ah Di Boom more than Danger Zone. Ah Di Boom asked for it but he asked for it in a respectful way. So why not, man? I thought about it, I didn’t just jump right in the door with it but I feel like he deserve it, he been working so the least I could do to give back and help them come up is to take one of them and do it. I fuck with Ah Di Boom more than a lot of them so that’s what I’m doing.”
Addressing a potential battle with Serius Jones following the pair’s feud, Goodz says he has no interest in a match-up between the two after things got “personal.”
“I don’t wanna battle Serius. Me and Serius had personal issues,” he said. “Battle rap is battle rap. We had a situation [where] he said something, I didn’t like it, I saw him, we handled it. I saw him again after that, he wanted to talk to me, we spoke and we left it alone. Now that’s just it. I don’t wanna battle that man, I’m not cool with him like that. That’s not my man but I don’t wanna battle him neither. I’m not that, I separate battle rap from what’s going on in the streets and from what’s really going on like that, I don’t bring it together. I don’t wanna battle Serius at all. At one point I did, I was gonna do it but after it got personal, that’s it for me.”
