After giving kudos to Marlo and Shuffle-T earlier this month for their performance in a compliments battle last year, Pat Stay and Rone confirmed their match-up in the same format for late September on Twitter yesterday. It will be the KOTD champ's first battle in his home province since 2009.
the rumors are true. the world might never be the same. @_rone vs @patstay in a compliment battle. who's the nicest? pic.twitter.com/6sgOxWwFl0

Making light of the nature of the battle, Pat predicted his “biggest buddy bag ever.”

The battle is part of the 5th annual Halifax Hopscotch Urban Arts Festival, and is set to go down at the Halifax Waterfront on September 27. The three-day festival will be headlined by Lil Jon and Tech N9ne.
The confirmation comes less than two weeks after Pat and Rone had a friendly back-and-forth on Twitter about the current battle rap landscape.
And that's why @patstay vs @DAYLYT2k represents a lot. A ton of marketing and fanfare vs very little hullabaloo and straight up talent.

In a video blog earlier this month, Pat Stay said the Marlo and Shuffle-T performance against Big J and Lefty could inspire him. Previously, Pat has been vocal about his weariness with battle rap.
“Maybe shit like this will bring me back, bring my spirits back, you know what I mean?” he said. “These fucking battles, I fucking hate these new battles. A bunch of suckers man. I wanna go to a fucking battle event and just fucking headbutt everybody I see. That’s what I wanna do. Not every person but just every battle rapper.”
