Drake vs. Murda Mook?

Murda Mook posted a photo of himself squaring off with Drake on August 23, saying the Toronto rapper was "serious" about wanting to battle him.

Could Drake be the next industry rapper to lace up his battle rap gloves?

According to an Instagram post from legendary Harlem battler Murda Mook, the Grammy-winner is serious about wanting to battle him.

"So this is @champagnepapi telling me he wants to battle me. And he is actually serious! Who got the check?" Mook writes in the photo's caption.

Mook is seen by many as the current king of New York battle rap after beating Loaded Lux at Total Slaughter in July. That performance also apparently caught Snoop Dogg's eye, and the two rappers will team up to co-present battles as part of the BET Hip Hop Awards' pre-festivities in September.

Recently, Drake has been flexing his competitiveness on a tour where he "battles" his Cash Money Records mentor Lil Wayne. On each tour stop, the two rappers take turns performing their hits and trading banter, vying for votes from audience members who select a winner via phone app.

Drake has also been a long-time supporter of battle rap, specifically his home-town league King of the Dot. He co-hosted battles in 2011 and 2013 and occasionally shouts out the league to his 16 million followers on Twitter.

A year ago, a match-up like this would've been impossible for any league to fund, but with new players on the scene like Total Slaughter and Lush One's billionaire backer Alki David, cash doesn't seem to be an issue anymore. Both Lush and Slaughterhouse's Royce Da 5'9 jumped at the idea of hosting the battle.

Fans have reacted to the potential match-up as well, most of them predicting a Murda Mook victory.
