Hitman Holla Speaks On Upcoming Battles Against Tsu Surf, Calicoe

The "Wild 'N Out" cast member faces Calicoe on September 19 and Tsu Surf on September 28.

With scheduled battles against both Calicoe and Tsu Surf in the coming weeks, Hitman Holla called in to AngryFans Radio to speak about his expectations for both match-ups. During the interview Hitman breaks down his grudge with Surf, and says he's not taking the battle lightly.

“This is my plan,” he said. “I got a little warm-up the weekend before, versus Cal [at Snoop's 'Gladiator School' event]. I’ma spank Cal, teach him something. We goin’ one round by the way. I already had the Summer Madness joint booked so I didn’t wanna pressure myself and try to do three [rounds]. I don’t even really wanna battle Calicoe. I got one round of hell for him though. I’ma spank Cal just to warm me up for that next Sunday. Trust and believe me, it will go down Sunday.”

“Me and Cal, I just couldn’t really skip on that look,” he later said. “Snoop called me and the first person he named was Cal. I didn’t wanna be like, ‘You gon’ have to find somebody else.’ I was like, ‘That’s cool.’ [BET's] Hip Hop Awards, Atlanta.”

With Surf hoping to rebound from his last two out-of-character performances, Hitman also spoke about preparing for an opponent who hasn't been at the top of his game lately.

“We all know how good Surf is when he’s on his game,” he said. “I can’t take that away from dude. The best he can do, if he come like on some next-level shit, he can make a debatable... That’s what he gonna have to do. For one, it’s Summer Madness and y'all know how I get in front of them big crowds. For two, it’s versus Jersey. Is there anybody in battle rap that’s that undefeated, clearly, against another state? They take a lot of shit away from me though. They take a lot of shit and sweep it under the rug. At first O-Red was probably the best nigga out. He was 9-0 in his last nine, on this amazing streak. I kick his ass and niggas like, ‘Okay. What you doing next Holla?’ That’s how they do me though.”

Hitman also speaks on the nature of his personal grudge with Surf, which turned into an apparent physical confrontation in June.

“Me and Surf, we was real cool before,” he said. “Then we got real bad. Then we was real cool. Then we fell off. I don’t know, 'cause we so much of the same person. Surf don’t let shit slide... His mind wasn’t really in it I guess. If you watch those battles like versus Clips, he had some shit. Versus Calicoe he had some shit too but it just wasn’t him. I ain’t naive to the fact that [he’s not trash]. That’s how niggas get killed, come in a battle like, ‘Oh, he trash. He been slipping.’ Nah, I’m prepared for the best Surf I could get. That could be a good Surf. That’s how I’m coming into the battle. I’m coming in like Surf is gon’ be the best he gon’ ever be, so Holla you need to make sure you the best you could be. That’s how I’m preparing myself.”

Detailing the nature of his grudge with Surf, Hitman Holla also talked more generally about his history of grudges in battle rap.

“Yeah for the simple fact, that’s star power he got. All the shit he just went through, the two bad L's or whatever, he still got a big fan base. He still got a loyal fan base. With me, I got the same shit. And with the history, it’s all about history. A grudge match can’t be a grudge match without history. B Magic and [Conceited] is a grudge match ‘cause of their history... Me and Surf been like that since what? 2010? That’s four years niggas been asking. You gotta understand, for four years straight, every year all year, niggas ask for Hitman and Surf. For four years. That ain’t like niggas forgot about it. Every time Smack put a card together, niggas is like, ‘Oh, we know we gonna get that Hitman and Surf.’ That’s a grudge. Me and Verb. Only reason that was a grudge is ‘cause we the same city. It ain’t really take off for years but it was just like, me and Verb. Me and Ars, that was a whole two years. Them grudges. I got two of those. This one’ll be three. I know how it feels. It’s a grudge. I can’t lose to him. I can’t."
