Music Of The Week: Arsonal, Chilla Jones, Tsu Surf

Our rundown of recent music from the battle rap community.

Fresh off the Labor Day weekend, BattleRap.com has compiled another edition of "Music Of The Week" from featuring the best music made by battle emcees.

With fall and winter event cards forthcoming, plenty of battlers kept at the music industry grind leading up to the holiday weekend. Below are some highlights included new tracks from Arsonal, Tsu Surf, Charron, 40 B.A.R.R.S., and more.

Arsonal Da Rebel - “On My Bandana”

Over the holiday weekend Arsonal took to his SoundCloud page to release his latest single, “On My Bandana.” Over a hi-hat heavy beat, Arsonal lets loose a syncopated flow full of lyrics like, “You say $1,200 your rent? Well I paid that for my sneakers / That ain’t even a half of a half of a half of a half what I ask for my features.”

Tsu Surf - “Where Have You Been”

Just a week after releasing his HumBeats produced “Lawd” single, Tsu Surf released his absent-father anthem. In the week since, Surf’s single climbed into AudioMack’s Top 50 songs of the week.

Shotty Horroh & Hypes - “#WTF”

U.K. battler and emcee Shotty Horroh enlisted fellow rapper Hypes for his latest video single “#WTF.” Eccentric, weird, and a little psychedelic, Horroh’s latest comes ahead of his scheduled Don't Flop battle against current champion Tony D. The promo battle comes after Horroh cancelled their previous title match-up following an apparent injury sustained to his jaw that kept him out of the ring. There was also some static between Shotty and the league, but that seems to be water under the bridge now.

40 B.A.R.R.S. - “Rap God Exclusive Freestyle”

Released as the second freestyle for her Team 40 Appreciation Week, 40 B.A.R.R.S.' new “Rap God” freestyle quotes Eminem’s smash of the same name and makes light of her recent loss to Jaz The Rapper.  “Niggas used to feel I was a rap God / ‘Til they seen me lose my battle they took that hard,” 40 spits.

J Dose - “I Do This”

Fresh off the release of his “Draft Day Freestyle” J Dose released the official video to his single “I Do This.” Featuring a repetitive hook and three verses, the video tracks Dose as he raps on the block, in front of the China spot, and in an abandoned building.

Swisha T x Johnny Bravo x Charron - “Stay In Your Lane”

Joining Swisha T and Johnny Bravo, Charron drops a verse on the Kemyst EDM produced “Stay In Your Lane.” With a Shady-esque vibe to the subject matter and production style, Charron raps random and maniacal non sequiturs throughout the third verse.

Natrill - “Don’t Flop Drops”

Rapping over Atmosphere’s “Sound Is Vibration” beat, Natrill spits a verse for the Don’t Flop battle league’s live performance series.

Chilla Jones - Welcome To Bosstown

Riding the momentum of his debatable clash with Real Deal, Chilla Jones releases his latest solo mixtape. Welcome To Bosstown features Ea$y Money, Termanalogy, Mickey Factz, and more. Download the mixtape for free (or buy a t-shirt) here.
