Ahead of MC WAR’s “New World Order II” event on Sept. 28, where Keith Murray will face off against Fredro Starr, Immortal Technique and Twista spoke separately to VladTV to discuss the match-up.
Harlem's Immortal Technique started by saying he finds it difficult to name a winner and reveals he has yet to see either one of the contestants battle.
“I can’t even call that one to be honest, I don’t know. I never seen either of them battle,” Immortal Technique explains. “I got a lot of respect for both of them. I met both of them and they were both very respectful, very kind and real cool to me. I can’t say a bad word about [either of them.]”
“I never heard either one of them battle,” he continues. “I don’t know what to expect. We could get a sleeper or we could get another situation where someone who battled a long time ago comes in and doesn’t understand the format or gets angry and it melts down into nonsense … I think [it]’s great for the culture. I think the fact that it’s happening over a beat, that’s interesting, that’s the part that got me the most. Not even that Murray and this dude are going at it but they’re doing it over a beat? Hold on! What? But that’s hot.”
Towards the end of the interview, Immortal Technique offers some advice to both battlers.
“In this era [of battling] we talk a lot about personals, a lot about family. So I would just tell both of them, if they’re gonna continue in that battle and there’s no holds barred, my thing for them is, ‘Hey, bro, don’t take nothing personal.’ I hope it doesn’t turn into some old mess down there. I think the best thing in the world would be for them to just have a battle, say whatever the fuck they did, give a pound, smoke an L afterwards and be cool.”

VladTV also spoke with Chicago lyricist Twista about the battle. Although reluctant to call it, Twista believes Fredro Starr will walk away the winner.
“That’s a hard question. Man, Keith is my homie — okay, I put it to you like this … I personally like Keith Murray as a rapper better, but I think Fredro Starr is a little more polished lyrically when it comes to a battle, I think,” Twista explains. “So that’s what I think. I just think that they’re two different artists but I think when you get to the realm of a battle, for some strange reason I got a feeling that Fredro is a little more polished and might do some damage, but we’ll see ... If I had to put my money on somebody, then I would have to probably put it on Fredro, reluctantly, but I would.”
Finally, Twista said his "dream battle" would be between Slaughterhouse emcee Crooked I and Kendrick Lamar.
“Oh, man. That’s a good question right there. That’s so hard though, man. Let me think. Nah, man, you asked me an impossible-ass question … I’d probably wanna see — it’d be some odd shit like Crooked I vs. Kendrick Lamar [laughs]. It’d be something like that.”
