With MC WAR’s “New World Order II” event scheduled for this upcoming Sunday (Sept. 28), more and more artists are giving their thoughts and predictions on the headline match-up between Fredro Starr and Keith Murray.
BattleRap.com recently caught up with Fresh Coast’s Lush One who offered his opinions on the battle between the two industry rappers.
“I’m old as fuck so hell yeah I wanna see Keith Murray and Fredro [Starr] battle, that shit is rad,” Lush One says. “I know their catalogues better than maybe even they do on a drunken night, you feel me?”
“I’m super siked on it. I’m curious to see whose material has aged better as far as their writing style adapting to the new form of battling,” Lush One continues. “I think MC WAR’s the company that put it on [and] I give them props for the fact that they’re being innovative, they’re doing a different format [and] it’s battling over beats. People might criticize it [but] I think it’s fly ‘cause like I said earlier, they’re doing something different … They’re doing something different, it’s a different platform [and] it’s a different context … These dudes are coming from a different angle with it. I’m siked.”
“Now after hearing Keith’s freestyle on "The Breakfast Club," I will say that I advise him to come with a little more modern style approach with his disses … It’s exciting shit [and] I’m siked on it. I’m old as fuck though so let’s go, baby!”
DNA
In a recent interview with VladTV, Queens, N.Y. battle rapper DNA also offered his views on this Sunday’s match-up in Stone Mountain, Ga.
“I think it’s definitely good to see niggas like that jump in the ring. I wanna see how it plays out … I can’t really call who I think is gonna win because I’ve never seen them battle. I think like it’s gonna be entertaining. Keith Murray brings a lot of energy [and] Fredro Starr’s got a lot of energy too. They’ll be saying some dope shit so I just think it’s gonna be a good battle. I wanna sit back and watch it. After I watch it I’ll come back and tell you who I thought won.”
Later in the interview, DNA says Fredro Starr and Keith Murray are “expanding the culture to people that don’t know about it” with their battle.
“It’s gon’ definitely make older heads that don’t know about what we doing watch their battle and be like, ‘What’s this?’ And then go [and] watch our shit. I always feel like no matter what’s going on [with] the Joe Buddens, the Drakes, the Kevin Durants the Lil Waynes — anybody that’s really into this shit, it’s always bringing light for them to watch something else ‘cause they’re gonna wonder, ‘Well where did this come from?’ So I always think it’s good. They’re expanding the culture to people that don’t know about it.”

Arsonal
New Jersey battler Arsonal also weighed in on the Fredro Starr and Keith Murray battle in an exclusive interview with BattleRap.com prior to his match-up against John John Da Don at Snoop Dogg’s “Gladiator School” this past Friday (Sept. 19) in Atlanta. While discussing the current industry crossover, Da Rebel cited the upcoming “New World Order II” battle as one that he finds “interesting.”
“Fredro Starr [and] Keith Murray? I love it … Keith Murray and Fredro Starr I do like that idea,” Arsonal said. “The idea that it’s on a beat [and] they old-school niggas, I like that. I think that’s gon’ be interesting.”
Elsewhere in Arsonal’s interview with BattleRap.com, he spoke on his disapproval of the match-up between Mike Jones and Bone Crusher.
Twista
Other artists to weigh in on the Fredro Starr and Keith Murray battle include Twista, Immortal Technique and battlers Murda Mook and T-Rex.
Chicago lyricist Twista revealed in an interview with VladTV he believes, although it’ll be close, Fredro Starr will walk away the winner.
“That’s a hard question. Man, Keith is my homie — okay, I put it to you like this … I personally like Keith Murray as a rapper better, but I think Fredro Starr is a little more polished lyrically when it comes to a battle, I think,” Twista explains. “So that’s what I think. I just think that they’re two different artists but I think when you get to the realm of a battle, for some strange reason I got a feeling that Fredro is a little more polished and might do some damage, but we’ll see … If I had to put my money on somebody, then I would have to probably put it on Fredro, reluctantly, but I would.”
Immortal Technique
In an interview with VladTV, Immortal Technique admits he’s unsure what to expect, as he’s yet to hear either one of the participants battle.
“I never heard either one of them battle,” Immortal Technique says. “I don’t know what to expect. We could get a sleeper or we could get another situation where someone who battled a long time ago comes in and doesn’t understand the format or gets angry and it melts down into nonsense … I think [it]’s great for the culture. I think the fact that it’s happening over a beat, that’s interesting, that’s the part that got me the most. Not even that Murray and this dude are going at it but they’re doing it over a beat? Hold on! What? But that’s hot.”
Murda Mook & T-Rex
Finally Murda Mook and an angry T-Rex also discussed the battle with ThisIs50 with the latter saying, “They gotta chill out ‘cause I’d kill both of them niggas.”
