Young B The Future: Emerging From Obscurity

EXCLUSIVE: "This [is] only the beginning,” says rising star Young B.

With a decisive in-the-building victory over B Magic at Snoop Dogg’s "Gladiator School" now in the books, many battle rap fans have one question about Young B: "Who the hell is that?"

Speaking with BattleRap.com ahead of his match-up, Young B explained his reaction to being recruited by Snoop, making a name for himself on the battle scene, and his next steps from here.

When asked about his appearance at the event, the Moreno Valley, Calif. emcee joked, “You know what? I’m still trying to figure that out.”

“What do I do? I know it’s a lot of people who really are wondering that, a lot of battle rap fans on the Internet and here,” he added. “We gon’ show’em today. That’s what I’m here for.”

We've had our eye on Young B since he first appeared on the scene. Check out some of the highlights from his battle career.

Young B's Previous Battles

Vs. Super Villain Almighty

In his second recorded outing, which dropped on KOTD's Prove Yourself in June 2013 and now stands as the try-out channel's third most viewed battle, Young B catches a mean body and clowns his opponent so hard that the latter can’t help but laugh at himself for a lot of it.

Vs. Ab Hogish

One of the best angles of the night at KOTD's "Battle Of The Bay 6" Day 1 event was Young B’s “you’re Asian, you’re not a gangster” round against AB Hogish. It goes on and on and every line gets a bigger reaction than the last. Young B definitely steps his bars up here, especially against a wordplay-heavy opponent like AB.

Vs. T2Good

Calling out Aspect One and Lush One for not giving him better opponents this past June, Young B faced off against T2Good.

Reacting to the call-out in an interview with BattleRap.com, Aspect One said Young B was out of line.

“I love Young B,” he said. “That’s the little homie. I felt like he was a little out of bounds with that shit. To keep it a buck, after the whole battle we were talking about his situation. I guess he felt slighted that he’s not able to get bigger names. He battled Rum Nitty and now Rum Nitty’s battling O-Red and Young B is battling T2Good.”

That Rum Nitty below from last year is also available.

The bulk of Young B's appearances are in AHAT's West Coast divisions. In this recent match-up, he faces Billy Boondocks in a $600 winner-take-all battle.
