Media Reacts To Daylyt's "SquatterGate" Antics

An overview of the coverage Daylyt's latest antics received.

The battle rap community is all too familiar with Daylyt's antics. But the Watts rapper reached a much broader audience with his actions in Phoenix last week.

If you didn’t catch him at “Duel In The Desert” against Real Deal, Daylyt pulled down his pants and tried to defecate on stage in his third round. After a few attempts to drop his “boo boo,” Daylyt was kicked out of the venue.

Although it’s been almost a week since the incident, Daylyt is still floating around the media and getting reactions to his behaviour.

Here's a breakdown of the coverage:

AngryFan went on a pretty epic rant about Daylyt's antics, questioning why leagues continue to book him for battles. AngryFan recaps Daylyt's previous antics and argues he is disrespecting the culture. Not only does AngryFan blame leagues for letting Daylyt continue to cause a scene, he also blames battle rap fans.

Jay Blac takes it to the bathroom and plumbs his anger away in disbelief of Daylyt's actions. He explains that the whole battle rap culture is in uproar and suggests that anyone who is against Daylyt's behaviour should just ignore him rather than getting upset. Jay says he has yet to watch the footage from the incident because he doesn’t want to support it. “I restricted myself as you should’ve done,” said Blac.

Complex recapped the story of what occurred at “Duel In The Desert” explaining what led up to Daylyt attempting to defecate. They said that fans and battlers alike are lucky that the venue’s security escorted him off stage “before he could actually pull off the stunt.”

HipHopDX (BattleRap.com's partner site) brought Daylyt into the office so he could explain his antics, which he did, kind of ... while pulling more antics.

MTV spoke with Real Deal over the phone and apparently, Real Deal truly believes that Daylyt was in fact trying to defecate on the stage. “It was a ballsy stunt from an MC who is known for ballsy stunts,” the story says. According to their interview with Real Deal, he wasn’t expecting an antic from his opponent that evening. Even after the incident, Real Deal went off to say that battle rap needs Daylyt.

In XXL's description of the incident, they characterize it as "downright disgusting.”

In their account of the event, The Source gave some background on Daylyt, writing: “[He]’s equally known for being a pretty controversial figure, threatening to do a wide range of crazy, ill-advised things during his battles, including what he recently attempted to do: defecate on stage.”

Radio.com described Daylyt as “a guy who won’t take crap from anyone.”

The BoomBox wrote that Daylyt's actions could see him banned from competing in future events. The story also says: “The Los Angeles Rapper attempted this act after he became agitated by the crowd’s boos over his annoying antics.”

Daylyt even went international, making the Swedish news. According to Google Translate, Swedish website NyHeter24 wrote: "The crowd continued to boo the result that Daylyt pulled down his pants and tried to defecate on stage during the event. Fortunately, the security guards did stop him and escort him out before he could do what he planned. We hope Daylyt learn to deal with criticism in a different way the next time."
