Music Of The Week: Murda Mook, Serius Jones, Mickey Factz

Murda Mook releases a new mixtape, Loaded Lux announces an album with a big-name producer, and Daylyt retreads his latest antic.

After a handful of battle rappers were featured heavily at the BET Hip Hop Awards earlier this week, the music followed suit with Murda Mook using his chance in the spotlight to drive traffic to a new mixtape release. DJ Premier and Loaded Lux also announced plans to record a full release together and Daylyt kept his "SquatterGate" antic up long enough to release an original video about it.

Take a look below at the best in battle rapper music from the past week.

Murda Mook Releases New Mixtape

Murda Mook had a big week. Fresh off a feature on LL Cool J’s GOAT 2 single alongside Raekwon on “I’m Nice,” Murda Mook took to the BET Hip Hop Awards to diss and call out Drake in a live performance. The next day, Mook let loose his Eazy Doez It mixtape with features from Snoop Dogg, Raekwon, and Busta Rhymes in tow. Ah Di Boom - "Lock My Body, Can't Trap My Mind"

Addressing the origins of his name in an interview clip at the start of the video, Ah Di Boom’s latest video, “Lock My Body, Cant Trap My Mind” features cameos from battle rappers like Charlie Clips, Cortez, and more. “I know a lot of y'all feeling this / But I’m just rapping from experience,” he spits.

DJ Premier And Loaded Lux Announce Collaboration

After Loaded Lux closed out a BET Cypher deejayed by Primo that aired on the BET Hip Hop Awards earlier this week, the two announced plans to record a full-length project together on DJ Eclipse’s Rap Is Outta Control.

Daylyt feat. Mr. Hankey - “Boo Boo In The Desert”

Proving that he can sustain his battle rap antics outside of the ring, Daylyt followed up his now-infamous “SquatterGate” antic with a video featuring a rapping cartoon in the form of South Park’s Mr. Hankey. Donning the same headless costume he brought to his battle against Real Deal, Daylyt raps from a desert in the video, frequently exposing his back-end as he did in Arizona earlier this month. “Crowd give me two boos, tell ’em I’ma boo boo,” he raps during one of the song’s verses. With images of the publicity he earned from the stunt flashing across the screen, Day raps during the chorus, “Wake up in the morning / See my ass on everything” before exclaiming, “I took a boo boo in the desert!”

Lotta Zay feat. Reeves - “I’m Free”

While waiting for his footage against Danny Myers and Marv Won to drop, Lotta Zay offered up an anthem for the relationship-liberated folks out there. Addressing a recent breakup in the video, Zay raps, “I had to get that stress from me / Your boy Lotta had to do what’s best for me.”

Mickey Factz - “$4.14”

Addressing his career’s biggest ups and downs, Mickey Factz’ latest single "$4.14" brings fans through his last several years in the industry. “Let me simmer down, digress / And tell you ‘bout my progress / Three sets of managers, five guys, one girl, shit was such a process / Hard for me to digest,” he raps, touching on a tough 2012. Factz brings the story all the way forward to this year, including his relationship with Lupe Fiasco and a dangerously low account balance.

Serius Jones feat. Gio Dee - “April Fools Day”

Putting his own spin on recent OVO signee ILOVEMAKONNEN’s single “Tuesday,” Serius Jones turned the song into a joking track about a lifestyle he’ll never quit. “Baby I’m in love, April Fools' Day,” he sings on the song’s hook.
