Young B Reflects On Snoop Dogg's "Gladiator School"

BattleRap.com caught up with Young B and got his insight on the event that changed his battle rap career.

Young B made a statement with a definitive win over fan favorite B Magic at Snoop Dogg’s “Gladiator School” event last month.

BattleRap.com caught up with the Moreno Valley, Calif. emcee at HipHopDX's offices in Hollywood to get the full story on how the battle came together and his thoughts on how it went down.

Young B says he first found out Snoop Dogg had reached out on Twitter through a friend. He responded to Snoop's tweets hours after the fact, and it led to his biggest battle yet: B Magic.

Snoop gave Young B the opportunity to choose his opponent in the ring. “In the battle rap world there was people saying that B Magic had said I took his style and rappers was saying I took his style or somethin', so instantly I thought B Magic,” said Young B.

“For people who know me, I wasn’t as much of an underdog as people might think, like in California,” said Young B. "I wasn’t aware of how unpopular I was to the East Coast.”

Young B says he has a hard time recapping the battle because he was so in the moment at the time. “It was a crazy battle. It was like, when I first walked on stage I knew, already knew that I really wasn’t gonna get no love unless I said stuff that was undeniable. I couldn’t slack.”

There's still no word on when the footage will drop, but Snoop has said a DVD of the event will be available soon.

BattleRap.com has already collected some of the highlights of Young B's battle career which you can see here.
