Music Of The Week: Shotgun Suge, Cali Smoov, Bender

Another rundown of music recently released by battle rappers.

While the footage of Charlie Clips' huge win over T-Rex at "Summer Madness 4" dominated headlines (and memes) last week, BattleRap.com was sure to keep tabs on the recently released music from the battle rap community as well.

In the latest edition of Battle Rap Music of the Week, we spotlight a pair of diss tracks from Big J and Cali Smoov, some new music from Flight Distance (Bender's group), a verse from Shotgun Suge, and plenty more. Take a look below for some of the biggest musical releases from the battle rap world recently.

Big J - "Window Licker" (Uno Lavoz Diss)

With an upcoming battle against Uno Lavoz on the way (Uno spoke with BattleRap.com about the match-up in September), Don't Flop's Big J lets loose a straight-ahead diss for his opponent on Bandcamp titled "Window Licker." Plenty of shots fired with little room for interpretation.

Big J and Uno Lavoz will face off on the first day of Don't Flop's "Sixth Birthday" event in Leeds, England on Nov. 15.

Fredo feat. Joshroxx - "Clark Gable"

With a history in battle rap that dates back to the early days of the West Coast scene, Fredo is easily recognizable to fans of the Fresh Coast and a part of the Great Muta crew. Hailing from Union City, Calif., the rapper's latest single features Joshroxx and pays homage to legendary actor Clark Gable over a laid-back Gudda B beat.

Cali Smoov - "Ether" (Caustic/Cassidy Diss)

Taking shots at both Caustic and Cassidy in a single track, Cali Smoov co-opted the original instrumental to Nas' infamous "Ether" diss track for his own use. Cali waxes about his relevance in the industry — "Ask Lush One, I'm way more involved than you think" — and looks ahead to his opponent Caustic (and headliner Cassidy) at FilmOn/FreshCoast Media's upcoming "Ether" card.

Termanology feat. Chilla Jones & Cortez - "Can't Take It Anymore"

Both Chilla Jones and Cortez pulled a feature on Termanology's upcoming Shut Up And Rap LP due out on Dec. 9. With the track released last week, Chilla and Cortez make sure to remind listeners of their battle rap acumen on their verses. "Check the news / And respect the views," Jones raps in his first verse.

Flight Distance - "Imaginary Friends" (produced by Bender)

The latest track from the upcoming Flight Distance release (featuring the trio of Bender, Patience and DJ Calkuta) dropped last week. The preview of the group's full-length High Priests of Low-Life release is called "Imaginary Friends" and produced by the former King Of The Dot champ himself.

Shotgun Suge - "The War Report Cypher"

Fresh off the release of his battle against Charron, Shotgun Suge is the latest on deck in The War Report's cypher series. Suge spits live in front of the camera and proves that his bully persona carries far beyond the ring. "Young niggas on my block selling dope there / Where my niggas gon' be when the smoke clear?" he raps.

Brooklyn Hanz - "The War Report Cypher"

With a bunch of East Coast emcees standing alongside him, Brooklyn Hanz kicks a verse and goes in on Dizaster in The War Report's latest cypher release.
