Eurgh Recaps Battle With John John Da Don

EXCLUSIVE: The Don't Flop owner reflects on his first U.S.-based event, saying it was one of the league's best in recent memory.

Don’t Flop owner Eurgh spoke with BattleRap.com in Atlanta shortly after his headline battle at the league's first U.S. event called “The Revolution.” During the conversation, Eurgh discussed the league's American expansion and shared his thoughts on his clash with John John Da Don.

“I think I fared well but I definitely learned a lot about delivery from being up there, man,” Eurgh explains. “I feel like lyrically we were even but delivery-wise he got me, 100 percent. I can’t fault [John John Da Don] at all. Which is funny because I just spoke to him and he was saying [that] he didn’t feel like his delivery was on but to me personally, from where I was standing taking it, it was like, ‘Damn, he’s going in, man.’”

Later in the conversation, Eurgh spoke about pulling double duty by battling and playing host to the event. He also discusses the card as a whole saying it was “probably the best event we’ve had in a while.”

“It took its toll on me when I was up there,” Eurgh says. “As the day went on I was thinking, ‘Fuck, man. I can’t really be bothered to battle right now.’ I put a lot of effort into writing. I never slack, ever. When you’re having to go look for battlers and people turn up late and then on top of that you have to step it up and be this whole persona. It’s fucking tiring, man. It’s so tiring.”

“I think this is probably the best event we’ve had in a while,” he continues. “My expectations were low because I feel like, ‘Uh, we might not be received very well,’ or, ‘No one might really give a shit. Everybody who has come might just be friends of the battlers,’ you know what I mean? You have all these worries. So to get here and the whole crowd is just so quiet, there was no talking, we never had to tell anyone to shut up, [there was] no loud ringtones or whatever. Those are things we go through in England at every event. As an event it was one of our best in a while just because of the vibe in general.”

Eurgh also discusses why he chose to host the event in Atlanta and not other battle rap hubs like New York or California.

Don’t Flop’s “6th Birthday Weekend” goes down this weekend (Nov. 15-16) at Stylus in Leeds, England. Read our preview here.
