Aye Verb Addresses John John Da Don Battle

Aye Verb explains how the crowd's vibe affected his match-up against John John Da Don and why he has switched up his approach to battling.

Calling into the new version of Angryfans Radio last night (Nov. 11), Aye Verb addressed several of his battles, all filmed in the span of a single month, highlighting his recently released match-up against John John Da Don specifically.

Early in the show, Verb touched on trying new things in his approach such as switching an emphasis from his second to his first round.

“All I did was reinvent myself,” he said. “Y'all don’t even notice. No other time in my career my first round was ever the wildest round. My second round was my wildest round for years. Here’s the thing that y'all don’t see that I understand. My whole first couple years of my career, I put my fire power to my second round ‘cause I looked at my second round as a game-breaker. So if a nigga wild out the first round I break even the second. Y'all didn’t even catch me. So now, for the last month I put the fire power in the first round. That’s just for the last month. I might switch it up again. The things that y'all don’t notice, I know what the fuck I’m doing.”

Touching on the dynamic and it how affected a battle with Daylyt, Verb alluded that Day took control of the battle late in the match-up.

“With Daylyt, I really tried to win the third round,” he said. “He just took it from me. He was with the shit. My third round for Daylyt was mean, he was just with the shit. I was like, ‘This boy is with the shit.’ That one was took from me. With Danny [Myers] I passed it to him. I passed it to Danny ‘cause I really respect who Danny is.”

Detailing his "Summer Madness 4" battle against John John Da Don that was released last week, Aye Verb explained how certain battles and leagues are especially affected by peripheral factors.

“I’ma tell you what matters,” he started. “When you do a URL battle a lot of things matter, number one is where you at. Number two is when you go on stage. Me and John John battle is strange. I’ma tell you why it’s strange. Me and John John was supposed to go on stage first. Alright? First. It’s not a good match-up ‘cause our tempo is different so you wanna get that on stage first ‘cause they’re gonna be into it. John John walked in the building three-and-a-half hours late. And then when he walked in three-and-a-half hours late he said he wanted to wait another battle.

"Ask Norbes, this is what I told him, I said, ‘Look, I want his money.’ I don’t live here. I’m on time. I don’t even live in this motherfucker. Y'all wanted me here at 2:00 I’m here at 2:00. What’s up? So the time matters when you go on stage in URL. There’s no seats and those people are restless. The more restless you are that’s what happens. We went on stage behind Surf and Hitman. John John is a slower paced rapper. Let me give y'all an example. When John John went first and then I rapped they was rocking with me. John John rapped again, the room got drained. When I said, ‘Showtime’ in the beginning of my second round they didn’t even say it with me. They were drained ... It’s a lot of shit that he said that they should have reacted to that they didn’t react to. That’s a fact. I keep it real with y'all, he said some cold shit it just got no reaction. There’s other shit I said that got no reaction. The tire.”

Touching on his recent ambitious battle schedule and admitting that he lost at least a couple, Verb added that he began writing for his match-up against Danny Myers immediately after facing off against John John.

“When I got off the stage with John John, I had no bars for Danny,” he said. “I went to the room. I didn’t go party. I didn’t fuck hoes. I went to the room. You can ask Magic. I was on the plane writing on the way home. I had nothing for Danny. That was a test for me. That had nothing to do with y'all.”
