Shotty Horroh Addresses Cancelled Yung Ill Battle

EXCLUSIVE: Shotty Horroh offers his take on why the Yung Ill battle didn’t go down and also reveals his battle rap hit list.

Despite not being able to perform at Don’t Flop’s “Sixth Birthday” weekend because of a last-minute cancellation from Yung Ill, Shotty Horroh was still in the building, taking photos with fans and soaking up the energetic atmosphere. Be sure to check out our recaps of both Day 1 (plus what league owner Eurgh had to say) and Day 2.

During the event, Shotty spoke one-on-one with BattleRap.com and offered his opinion on the whole Yung Ill situation.

“I’m pretty good at estimating scenarios,” Shotty Horroh says. “Here’s my estimation for the Yung Ill scenario. Money got hard. You’ve got his semi-commercially viable name as far as the battle audience goes. People remember you still. You can still probably draw $1,100 to $1,500 [with] probably a $500 advance if you’ve just agreed to it. So, you’re on your ass — [which] is an English term for being broke — you’ve got no money. ‘Oh fuck. Fuck it, I need to make this shit. I need do this for whatever bill or baby momma’s doing this or [whatever].’ Signs the battle. ‘Give me the deposit.’ Once he gets the deposit, something else happens and his situation becomes a little bit better, he’s not as broke and then we get put to the back.”

While discussing his current musical career path, Shotty also spoke about his upcoming battles with a mention of a possible debut on a SMACK/URL event for next year.

“We got some huge battles already signed [and] deposits already been spent,” Shotty Horroh explains. “I can’t say [which cards], I can’t say that. Let’s just say a little birdy told me that someone might show up at ['Night of Main Events 5.'] Maybe.”

Finally Shotty broke down his battle rap hit list, mentioning some of URL's biggest names as emcees he would like to face off against.

“I have a list and I’m executing everyone on that list, or at least getting a 2-1 [laughs],” Shotty Horroh says before disclosing the names. “Hitman Holla, B Magic, Chilla Jones, Big T, Charlie Clips, Xcel, he’s an up-and-coming kid. I’m one of them that wants the content more than anything … It’s not about who’s the biggest right now because fuckin’ Iron Solomon had the biggest name at one point and now he’s nothing. It’s not about who has the biggest name at that particular point, it’s about the content and Xcel’s so ready. Xcel, Rum Nitty, Ty Law, Anubis, all [of] these guys I would battle.”

Shotty Horroh also hinted at a possible appearance at King Of The Dot’s “Flatline 3” event on Nov. 22 in Toronto, Canada. We’ll be in the building so stay tuned for live updates and interviews.
