Organik Weighs In On Dizaster vs. Cassidy

EXCLUSIVE: Organik says the headlining “Ether” battle suited the intimate setting compared to the main stage.

After the delayed match-up between Cassidy and Dizaster went down in a Beverly Hills parking garage this past Sunday, (following the FCMG/FilmOn event being shut down) the night before, King Of The Dot co-founder Organik spoke one-on-one with BattleRap.com to offer his thoughts on the battle.

“I thought it was crazy,” says Organik, who was there only as a fan and supporter of the culture. “I thought the first round both of them came really hard and then kinda came lighter in the next two rounds but I thought it was crazy. I felt the atmosphere was a lot better than it would have been on stage and everything.”

Organik later stated that the battle wouldn’t have come across as well on the main stage of the Belasco Theater.

“It was tight, man. It was intense, the atmosphere and everything, which is good," Organik explains. "That’s kind of what battle rap was fed off. It just has that hostile environment but it all comes out okay and that’s what it is. That’s what hip hop has always had. It’s kind of a hostile environment but at the end of the day we keep it hip hop … I thought it was way better than it would have been on stage. Everyone is gonna be happy with it.”

“I mean it was good," the KOTD founder continues. "I thought the energy between the two was good [and] even the way they played off each other. They played their downtime really well. To be a successful battle rapper, downtime is something a lot of people need to focus on. You have to play the character in and out of your position. Even when you’re not rapping, let shit seem like it just flies over your shoulder and Cassidy’s very good at that. No matter what you say to him, he shows he’s listening but it’s like, ‘Whatever, man.’ He almost convinces viewers that your bars are shit by his body mannerisms and the way he plays his downtime. That’s his strong point … Like, ‘It ain’t bother me. Say what you wanna say. We’re waiting for me to rap’ [laughs].”

Dissecting the battle, Organik cited Cassidy’s impression of Dizaster and Diz’s aggression and energy as the standout moments.

“It’s really hard to call a winner on that, man. Just because Cass came with a lot more punchlines [and] Diz came with a lot more of a personal angle and that storytelling in the last two rounds. The first round was really tight, too. The Cass impression of Diz. And just Diz’s whole schemes in the first and the energy he had and his aggression and everything. I think if he stuck with that aggression throughout the whole battle — the best Dizaster you can get is when you get him in that mood. The way he was against Swave Sevah [and] unfortunately the way he was against me. He doesn’t care about what’s going on around him and just focuses on what’s in front of him. I feel like once Dizaster focuses on what’s around him, it starts to affect him a little more rather than when he’s just direct at his opponent.”

Following the event, Organik weighed in on the battle via Twitter. Check out some of his tweets below:
