“I think this was a real unorthodoxly, unexpected battle for the culture that I just did with Daylyt,” Serius Jones says. “From what the L.A. homies seem like, they gave it to the guy [laughs]. It’s been a fun night for me. It was last minute, I ain’t expect it and we got something I think really special.”

On the frequently discussed topic of battle rap’s evolution, Serius Jones says he’s proud to have been a part of the culture’s growth.

“I really feel kind of proud,” Serius Jones says. “It’s kind of dope to see the way the culture’s grown because I remember when we had to make people care. And I’m just proud to be a part of the making people care [part]. Those that really know this culture know that the first battles really wound up on MTV, BET and really got us the look to make people wanna be battle rappers. Say, ‘Yo, I’ma really get on like this. I’ma make sure my bars are hot enough.’ That came from the foundation that I didn’t know we were building. I’m appreciative of the fact that I’m still considered one of the greats of the culture that’ll have me come to events like this here and do my thing.”

After his battle with Daylyt, Serius Jones took to Twitter to discuss the match-up. Check out some of his tweets below:
