Big T Says "Ether" Would Have Been Better In Small Setting

"We do these big stage battles, but all of us, if you listen to our conversations, we would love to go back to the simplicity of it," Big T says.

With his performance at "Ether" serving as one of the standout appearances of the event, Big T called into The War Report last night to break down his very busy 2014, address "Ether" as a whole, and explain why he wants to see and be a part of more small room battles.

Speaking on his battle against relative newcomer Aktive, Big T hinted that it was important for him to put his best foot forward on the big stage.

"I felt like showing out," he said. "I just had a crazy small room performance [against Dizaster] so everybody knew I could do that. I wanted to show them. I kind of figured it out, how to kill on a big-stage ... Battling on the big stage, we had to learn. 'Total Slaughter,' that was my learning experience. I figured out what to do different and what to do now. Even though that mic was kind of throwing me off, I think it would have been even crazier if I didn't have that mic in my hand. I was still able to maneuver a little bit. I couldn't act out my gun sounds like I wanted to."

"We do these big stage battles, but all of us, if you listen to our conversations, we would love to go back to the simplicity of it," he added. "The motherfuckas that are coming up that just want the big stage, enjoy the simplicity right now. Because we want that. We would have loved all of us to just go ahead and have 80 people and knock out that event. That event would have probably been ten times crazier."

Addressing the influx of battles he took in the past year, Big T admitted that he had to improve in front of the world.

"I had ten battles last year," he said. "I counted'em up. I went from battling twice to battling ten times. I learned in front of everybody else. I couldn't do the same regiment that I did for battling every two, four months that I do for every month. I had to practice more. I had to write more. By the time it comes to the battle I barely know my rhymes. I hadn't messed up any battle, this year was the first time I ever messed up."

As for the rescheduled Cassidy vs. Dizaster battle, Big T seemed to agree with much of the battle rap community that the small crowd and setting propelled the rematch into a much better piece of entertainment.

"It was crazy live," he said. "I still think it was good on camera. It looked like Cassidy didn't miss a step in there. I was saying, in that room, I think anybody — not anybody, Cassidy would get killed in that big room. He doesn't know how to do that. He's known for battling around forty, fifty people. He don't know how to work the stage. But you put him back in his element, he was gonna do crazy. I knew it would. What sells his battle is acting out. Being close to somebody all in their face, in a crowd of 1,000 people around he can't really do that. I think the battle was good."
