Daylyt Addresses Cancelled South Africa Battle

Daylyt cites personal grievances as the reason why he was unable to battle Ness Lee in South Africa.

During a recently released video blog posted to his YouTube page, Los Angeles battle rapper Daylyt gave his reasons for not being able to battle Ness Lee at Scrambles4Money’s “Event Horizon” this past Friday (Dec. 12) in South Africa.

Over the past few days, Daylyt has taken to Twitter numerous times to reveal that the loss of his father following an alleged stabbing led him to cancel his trip.

“I’ve kind of been off the radar and one of the reasons why I’ve been off the radar is because a lot of shit [has] been going on outside of battle rap,” Daylyt explains. “R.I.P. to Pops … I’m just trying to keep my head up and stay positive. Try not to let it affect me [and] try not to let it throw me off my game. [If] you notice I’m not sitting online and mourning and crying and letting it throw me off because I know God has a plan and God takes specific people for a specific reason.”

"I’m not gonna let nothing throw me off my game or put me out of the loop," Daylyt continues. "First and most foremost, to everybody in Africa, sorry I wasn’t able to make it. Like I told y’all, some shit really came up that night, and shit came up the day after that, and the day after that. Three days in a row we lost somebody. Three days in a row and y’all dumb ass niggas probably thought it was a joke or thought it was a game until you start seeing all them fuckin’ R.I.P. pictures pop up. Shit is happening out here. So like I told Ness Lee and I told the rest of the world, for the next event I will fly myself out there. I’ll fly myself out there and I’ll do the battle out my own pocket because I’m that type of dude. I’m not that one to just hold you up."

Scrambles4Money posted a message to their Facebook page addressing Daylyt’s withdrawal from the event.

The league's host and organizer Gin-i Grimes stepped up as a last-minute replacement for Daylyt. Ness Lee posted a status on Facebook after their battle, writing: "Oh, me and my brother Gin-i Grimes had an absolutely monumental battle. That boy is a living legend man."
