Dialect Speaks Ahead Of Chilla Jones Battle At "Flatline 3"

EXCLUSIVE: Dialect also addresses losing to Marlo and Shuffle-T at Don’t Flop’s “Sixth Birthday Weekend.”

Just a week after his 2-on-2 battle with Zen against Marlo and Shuffle-T at Don’t Flop’s “6th Birthday Weekend,” U.K. emcee Dialect was in Toronto, Canada to face off against Chilla Jones at King Of The Dot’s “Flatline 3” on Nov. 22.

The night before the match-up, BattleRap.com caught up with Dialect to get his thoughts on the then-upcoming battle and to get his take on his opponent, Chilla Jones. According to KOTD’s YouTube page, Dialect vs. Chilla is scheduled for release on Jan. 19, 2015.

“He’s a really good opponent to be honest,” Dialect says of Chilla Jones. “I think changing it [from Danny Myers] to Chilla, that made the battle slightly harder in a sense of writing. I do really rate him as a writer. I think his performance isn’t as strong as Danny’s so I feel like it’s a bit of a double-edged sword to be honest. But Chilla Jones, I couldn’t ask for a better opponent after Danny not being able to do it. Chilla’s the next best thing, definitely.”

Later in the conversation, Dialect addressed his match-up with Zen against Marlo and Shuffle-T for the 2-on-2 title at Don’t Flop’s “6th Birthday Weekend” event (which you can watch here). Although they lost the judged battle, Dialect says he was pleased with the performance that he and Zen put on for their hometown crowd in Leeds, England.

BattleRap.com mentioned Marlo/Shuffle's performance as one of the top moments from the whole event. Read more about the best moments here.

“I think me and Zen did a very, very good job against them,” Dialect says. “They’re the champions for a reason. I’m not gonna say I rate them as rappers because I don’t feel they are rappers [but] they’re really good at what they do. And I feel that for two rappers to go up against them, we put up a really good fight against them. I don’t feel let down in any way that we don’t have the title. All in all, it would have been nice to have the 2-on-2 title but at the same time I’m not ridiculously let down by the situation. I’m alright with it.”
