SMACK/URL’s Beasley appeared on 15 Minutes of Fame Radio to tell fans about the league’s first event of 2015, which will pit established battlers against highly regarded up-and-comers.
Beasley cites the “Rookies vs. Vets” concept as a way to develop URL’s new roster. “As battle rap expands, there’s more shows to put out and people want to book guys for other shows,” he explains. “And it’s not like anybody’s coming with their own talent pool. Y’know, everybody pulls from our talent pool and guys that we workin’ to develop … sometimes we have to regroup."
He also laid down some expectations for the line-up, without confirming any names. “Got some solidified vets on the joint. Got some solidified rookies on the joint. The year’s top-choice guys going against each other toe-to-toe, and break that myth about new guys not beating veterans, or the veterans being dominant.”
While none of the card was specified, Beasley did shed light on the range of experience to expect at the January/February event, saying that he marks a veteran at the popularity level of DNA, Cortez and Aye Verb, and lists Th3 Saga, Mr. Wavy, Prep, Chess and Brizz Rawsteen amongst the newcomers. Whether any of them will appear remains to be seen, but Th3 Saga jumped on the announcement, asking Twitter who they’d like to see him up against.

No official flyers have dropped yet but BattleRap.com has seen a fair amount of chatter about UFF Season 3 winner T-Top vs. Shotgun Suge, and Cortez vs. Brizz Rawsteen being possibilities.
Beasley announced also that the event is set to precede a 2015 that will see URL invest in its new talent and expand to the West Coast.

URL also followed through on their European expansion, releasing a flyer for their first London event that features names like Dialect, Tali and Flexplicit.
