Kid Twist Returning At "Blackout 5"

The KOTD original gives BattleRap.com an exclusive statement on his return.

King Of The Dot continue to build hype for their upcoming "Blackout 5" event with the announcement of the return of Kid Twist, one of the league's first stars.

Kid Twist, whose battle against poRICH was the main event at the first ever KOTD event, was one of the strongest characters in the early days of the league.

His quick-witted rebuttals, goofy sense of humor, and often devastating insight into his opponents' flaws made him an elite battler and helped KOTD catch the attention of battle fans from around the world. Along with a small contingent KOTD battlers, he headed to Oakland at the peak of the Grind Time era to face Madness and Fresco on back-to-back days at "Battle Of The Bay 5" in 2009.

BattleRap.com reached out to Twist for a comment on his return. Here's what he wrote:

It's been exciting, as a fan, to watch the scene grow astronomically over the past few years. I never would have anticipated it reaching the level of popularity that it has now, and I'm thrilled that KOTD is seeing the payoff for all their hard work.

I feel like the scene has grown to the point where we're seeing a lot more diversity in styles. Up until recently, everyone was really trying to compete in the same space and so there was a lot of pressure to incorporate whatever the latest trend was into your verses in order to win the crowd. But it's exploded so much now that there's enough room for battlers to do their own thing, and less focus on trying to appeal to everyone at once. Which is perfect for me.

So it really means that the pressure is off for me, and I can just fuck around and have fun. That should be great news for anyone who's enjoyed my battles in the past, because all of my best moments as a battler came when I was putting in almost no effort and not trying to entertain anyone but myself. And that's something I think people are hungry for more of right now, with the intensity and hype surrounding big name match-ups. There are a lot of ways that this just feels like the right time for me to jump back in again.
