Illmaculate Announced For “Blackout 5”

Illmaculate is scheduled to battle at the mystery event in February.

Today’s "Blackout 5" announcement is Portland, Oregon battle rapper Illmaculate.

Illmac is a pioneer of West Coast battle rap, having been heavily involved with the culture for more than a decade. Early in his career, he became the youngest Scribble Jam champion (winning it at 17 in 2004) and then dominated the WRC 2-on-2 freestyle format with his partner The Saurus. The two eventually went up against each other at Grind Time’s “Battle Of The Bay 5” in one of the league’s most memorable match-ups.

Illmac is one of the few emcees who successfully transitioned from the freestyle era to the current pre-written format. His showing against Bender in Toronto won him KOTD's performance of the year in 2011 and his battle with Bigg K was widely considered 2013's battle of the year from any league.

Despite his highly respected reputation on the West Coast, Illmaculate has struggled to gain much traction from East Coast fans. A lackluster display against New Jersey battler Arsonal at KOTD’s "Vendetta" in 2012 didn’t help his cause either.

Illmac’s most recent King Of The Dot battle was an impressive performance against Aye Verb at the league’s “Battle Of L.A. 5” event in June. Check out the lyrics to that battle here.

In October, he faced off against Charlie Clips at BBE’s “Duel In The Desert” in a battle that most fans had massive expectations for and that many have since touted as one of the most disappointing battles of the year.

Most recently, Illmaculate went up against Real Deal at FCMG/FilmOn’s “Ether” event in Los Angeles with viewers awarding the Oregon native a decisive win.
