Lush One Recaps Battle Rap In 2014

“This is everything to me. If battle rap dies, I die with it,” Lush One says.

Suffice to say, Lush One had an intense 2014.

“I went from a bus pass to a Beemer. I went from being passionate about something to obsessed with something and that’s battle rap culture," he says in an interview filmed days after FCMG/FilmOn's "Ether" but before some of the scandals that followed it. "That’s how to really, really just — beyond make this a livelihood — I’m riding this till the wheels fall off and when I say the wheels fall off it’s gonna turn into a spaceship and it’s gonna go through the atmosphere. This is everything to me. If battle rap dies, I die with it.”

During an exclusive sit-down interview outside of BattleRap.com’s Hollywood headquarters, Lush One recapped his 2014 starting with King Of The Dot’s “Vendetta 2: Redemption” event in Los Angeles on April 19.

He then weaved through his year, speaking at length on various events and battles including Dizaster and Math Hoffa's feud and eventual physical clash at KOTD’s “Battle Of L.A. 5” event, as well as revealing the intricacies behind the process he went through to form the mammoth “Ether” event that went down earlier this month in Los Angeles.

He also reveals his picks for battler of the year, battle of the year (excluding Dizaster vs. Cassidy), bodybag of the year, battle rap’s biggest disappointment of the year, rookie of the year and the culture’s highest point in 2014.
