Arsonal vs. Mistah FAB Will Be Best Crossover Battle Yet: Grizzle

BOTB7 co-presenter Teddy Grizzle breaks down the battles on the upcoming Oakland card.

With the upcoming "Battle Of The Bay 7" scheduled for this Thursday and Friday, the event’s co-organizer Teddy Grizzle called into PSA Radio to discuss the card and the headlining match-up between Arsonal and industry rapper Mistah F.A.B.

Addressing the battle, Grizzle says that he’d bet on it being the best match-up between an industry artist and a battle rapper ever.

“This is easily gonna be the best crossover battle from mainstream to battle rap we’ve had yet,” Teddy Grizzle says. “I’d bet the rent money on it. Every single mainstream cat has brought something different with them. There were a couple of Joe Budden’s bars that I was like, ‘Oh, that’s pretty fire.’

"[Canibus’ performance] was bad. That was bad. What’s crazy is, if you really wanna put it into perspective, back then what Canibus probably got paid to battle is what some of the elite battle rappers now are making … This is starting to become a career for people. It’s crazy.”

Grizzle also broke down a few of the match-ups and offered his thoughts on which battle may end up being the best of the night.

“I did get a little bit of flack for this card and I don’t really get it,” he says. “I happen to personally think the card is fire. I happen to think it’s mad solid from top to bottom and you have no idea where performance of the night or battle of the night is gonna come from. I’ve seen so many different answers. I think I’ve seen every single battle on this card be called by someone battle of the night. I like that. Rum Nitty and Lotta Zay could run away with it. KG [The Poet] and Heartless could run away with it. Personally I think Ness Lee and Swave [Sevah] might run away with it. That was supposed to go down in Tucson, Arizona. I remember gearing up for a road trip with my boys and it got cancelled and we were mad depressed about it but I’ve been wanting to put this one on. I think Swave’s got a lot to prove on the big stage again. Also the battle will be pit format, it won’t be on the stage. So we’re gonna bring it back to the old school Battle Of The Bay.”

Elsewhere, Teddy Grizzle discusses BOTB7’s match-up between B Magic and Pass, as well as the current state of PG battlers.
