Arsonal Recaps Mistah F.A.B. Battle

"I picked his mind," Arsonal says of his battle against Mistah F.A.B.

After months of lead-up, "Battle of the Bay 7" brought a couple cancellations but the main show went on with Arsonal and Mistah F.A.B. battling at the end of the night. Speaking with Angryfans Radio shortly after the event, Arsonal clowned F.A.B.'s performance and blamed a non-battle rap crowd for what he predicts will be a bust with regard to view counts.

Given the location, the crowd heavily favored Mistah F.A.B. and when Arsonal broke down his perspective on the bias audience he said it "just make [F.A.B.] look terrible."

"When you stop and just have the crowd reciting songs, I knew right there — and that was in the first round — I knew right there, I'm like, 'Oh, he fucking up,'" Ars said. "This nigga singing songs. It's one thing to go there. And this is the thing about being a veteran battle rapper. I know going into that situation it's gon' be hostile. I know that already in the back of my mind. I play strategic. I always play strategic. I notice I'm not just battling for the crowd and I'm gonna use that to my advantage. I'm gonna make the crowd hate me. All they gon' do is soup up your booty shit and it's gon' look terrible on camera for the real world to see, not just your fans. That's exactly what I did to him. I picked his mind. I made everybody in that bitch mad and of course they not gon' go for my shit. Of course they gon' soup up everything he doing. That just make him look terrible. You gotta have the know-how. I know how to win a battle."

Explaining his approach to battling F.A.B., Arsonal also recalled his offer to the Bay Area vet to leave any personals out of the match-up.

"I asked him once we locked the battle in," he said. "I called him, I said, 'Is there anything you don't want me to say, bruh? Any subject you don't want me to touch on?' This the relationship — we doing business. He's like, 'Nah, shoot. Shoot your jumper.' I'm like, 'You sure? Are you sure now?' I guess he thought I was playing or being funny. Once he said that, now I'm going all the way."

Returning to the topic of the setting, Ars spoke more generally about the issue of biased crowds and his positive experience battling Shotty Horroh in England more than two years ago.

"I went in there with my back up against the wall knowing it was gon' be like that," he said of his BOTB7 appearance. "I just want to say salute to the real fans that came up to me after the battle and was like, 'Bruh, we real battle rap fans. You did your thing.' Salute to them for not paying all that money that these people paid to get in just to try to fuck a battle up. I still don't understand that. I got money and I still don't like throwing away money. I'm not gon' sit there and pay $150, $250 V.I.P. to be fucking booing a nigga all night.

"It happens," he added. "I done been around the world. I been in bias crowds. I been in hostile crowds. I been in all these type of situations. It's just another day. I hate having to fight through it. I wish that the crowds that pay to see battles and come support the event are battle rap fans or even music fans, or hip hop fans that's trying to become battle rap fans. Don't come there to be on no bullshit. It take away from the event. I think it's gon' take away from my views. A lot of people keep telling me, 'You gon' get hella views on this.' I keep saying I don't because a lot of people gon' watch it once and be like, 'First of all, Mistah F.A.B. is corny. He wasn't saying shit.' They gonna watch it again and see my first round over and over of course. The people that watch and get to like the third round, they gon' be like, 'Yo, this crowd was doing something so dirty that I don't event wanna watch this shit no more.' I think that take away from it. Now, a battle that got six million plus views like me versus Shotty Horroh — shout out Shotty and congrats for being in that category with me — for a battle like that, we was in England where he's from but the crowd wasn't biased. They went everything that I said that was hot, they went for everything that he said that was hot. If it was hot it was hot. If it wasn't it wasn't. It makes a difference. I think the crowd played a major part and I do think it's gonna fuck up our view count."
