B Magic, Head I.C.E & Swave Sevah Recap BOTB7

The three performers give their take on what went down in Oakland.

BattleRap.Com caught up with Battle of the Bay 7 performers Swave Sevah and Head I.C.E, and would-be performer B Magic (whose battle with Pass was cancelled after the venue ran out of time) to get their opinions on their own battles.

B Magic was the first to comment on his delayed-then-cancelled Pass battle. “I don’t know if it’s still gon' happen,” he says. “Hopefully we’ll get to kickin’ it off because, you know, I’m willing to give the fans that battle.” He refrained from passing too much comment on his own take on the cancellation, explaining "I’d rather not say on cam.”

His Twitter reactions were just as muted, but he doesn’t seem too happy about the situation.

Head I.C.E also spoke on his battle with Bay Area rapper Caustic. “It was okay. It was better than I thought it was gon’ be. But then again we don’t know who wrote those, so, y’know. Practice does make perfect. He definitely came and did what they told him to do.”

Did he win? “I feel like Caustic lost, and the ghostwriters lost too, but they did a great job though.” After Caustic reportedly milked the age angle, BattleRap.com tried to uncover the Wolf’s age, who had only one thing to say: “I’m younger than Jay Z and ‘em. Know that. If you can bump they shit, you’re bumping my shit.”

By ‘my shit,’ Head I.C.E is referring to his upcoming album “I Am Battle Rap,” from which the title track recently dropped featuring Charlie Clips, DNA and Cortez. He also name-drops Arsonal, Shotty Horroh, Marv Won, Big T, Swave Sevah and B Magic as being featured on the album. It’s one hell of a roster, and you can get a taste of it with the brand new video below, directed by B Magic.

Swave had an alternate take on the event: “I’m high. Very high. Very high.” He had a very well-received clash against Ness Lee at Day 2 of the event, and went on to explain what made the battle stand out. “Both our seconds was on our comedic route,” he says. "I figured I had to show a different side of me and make everybody laugh at 'em, know what I mean? I don’t really have any malice towards Ness, man. He’s a good dude.”

He also announced that he may not be battling after 2015 as he suggested last year, but he isn't about to slow down as a result. “I said it, but, y’know. It is what it is. I think this might be my last year, but I wanna go out with a bang, so I want niggas to step up, know what I mean? I wanna do some real shit.”

He is currently putting together his album “I Beg to Differ,” and has cited that he may be appearing on some of the East Coast legs of Immortal Technique’s tour.
