Bishop Brigante Addresses His "Blackout 5" Debut

"This is a return to battle rap, this is a debut in the written format," Bishop Brigante says.

Half debut, half battle rap return, Bishop Brigante was recently announced as a battler for KOTD's upcoming "Blackout 5" event set to take place this weekend in Toronto. While Brigante has a long history in battle rap as both a freestyle emcee and more generally as an ambassador for the league, he admits in an interview with BattleRap.com that his "Blackout 5" battle is his first time in a formal and written setting.

"I've got a history of battle rap, I can actually make songs, which doesn't mean I can battle rap it just means that I can rap," Bishop recently told BattleRap.com. "I've been on the front line and I'm still actively involved in every aspect of the culture."

Responding to public expectations for his performance, Brigante hinted that his lack of a track record makes it hard to predict his approach.

"As time is going on, people are now accepting the fact that it's actually happening," he said. "So they're going to check out old stuff of mine, they're hitting me up. A lot of people are excited because they have no idea. If we're gonna be 100 percent fair about the situation, you have no idea if I'm gonna lose or if I'm gonna win. You have no idea. If I'm gonna be good, if I'm gonna be wack. No clue. There's no reference to it. I've never battled in the ring format. Ever."

Still, Bishop hyped up the opportunity and said his will "be the best debut out of anybody that was in my position prior to me."

"I'm not coming in thinking I'm gonna be the best," he later said before jokingly hinting about some of his rumored opponents. "I'm battling a serious opponent. I'm battling a heavy duty opponent. I'm battling a foreigner. This could be a very angry and childish battle."
