Ncredable: "This Is Not A Game"

BattleRap.com catches up with one of BOTB7’s surprise top performers.

Ncredable had one of the Top 3 performances on Day 1 of KOTD's "Battle Of The Bay 7" according to BattleRap.com editor-in-chief Chris Mitchell, who was in the building to see the intense and aggressive turn from the battler from Da Jungle’s heyday.

With only eight on-camera battles to his name, Ncredable made an impressive debut in King Of The Dot's GZ Battles league. The Stockton, Calif. battler gave us a rundown of why Da Jungle is so important to battle rap culture.

“Well, the history of Da Jungle, it extends beyond normal human vision,” he says. “This was a way for us to stop killing each other and kill each other on the mic … it gave a lot of people a way out, and we live, man.”

He also explained, on those terms, why the Stockton battle style is different. “You can get killed for doing something humble in your town. Sometimes you can’t even walk into a liquor store because of the crowd that’s there. When you see that every day … you come with a different illumination...”

Ncredable debuted in 2009, battled six more times and then disappeared for most of the current era of battle rap. His recent re-emergence against Cold P was a dominant comeback, and despite the time off, he shows absolutely no signs of ring rust. Four years is a long time not to battle on cam. He makes it look easy in this clash.

The run of form and full-on presence during his rounds (as well as Reverse’s) show that he has not dropped the ball since picking it up again. Reverse Live spoke to BattleRap.com after the event and admitted defeat: “He did fucking awesome. He did a fire, fire, fire performance. I had a shitty performance. I got cooked. This is actually the worst I’ve ever lost in a battle too.”

Ncredable described his comeback as such: “I never left. When there’s nobody to battle, I battle rap myself in the mirror … Battle rap isn’t what you do during a performance, battle rap is how you get up and go to work every day. It’s how you feed your family every day. It’s when you get evicted. Battle is when you get your ass beat, is when you get robbed, is when you have pistols to you. The emotion that you feel put into those words, that’s what battle rap is … This is not a game.”
